Earth is rotating at constant speed, and everything on it, including me, move along with earth at the same speed.
Suppose, I 'jump' from the ground, then the PHYSICAL CONTACT between me and the earth vanishes....... so in such a case, I should not be carried away along with the earth's speed in its direction in the few seconds of time while I am 'flying' in air. So, the ground below my feet should move ahead of me in its speed!!!!

Why it didn't happen?? Never got a convincing answer, I look forward for my learned friends to throw some light on it.

The answer lies in your statement itself. "  Earth is rotating at constant speed, and everything on it, including me, move along with earth at the same speed."

When you jump in the air for a few seconds you also have the same speed as that of the earth. So the relative speeds between you and earth both cancel out and hence you land at the same place.

Another example:
Imagine you are in a commercial airplane and travelling mid air. You thro a ball in the air. Does the ball land at your seat or a few seats behind? It lands at your seat itself because the ball also has the same relative sped as that of the plane and yourself.

Just imagine u in a heli hovering in in a same position above 10 mtrs and at still place for ur answers
jumping for 2-3 seconds will not help .Jump for at least 2 hours to see the difference.

Definitely it will .practically set a point on earth and then hover....the position will be changed

This is due to Newton's first law of motion stating 'A body in motion remains in motion unless external force acts on it and brings it to rest'.

You were rotating with earth at 1674.4 km/h and so was air around you. When you jump, the amount of retardation force excreted on you by the surrounding air is so less that you continue to rotate with the earth with (almost) same speed. Adding to it, the Earth's gravitational force (towards the center) also keeps you 'Attached' to its own rotational speed

You can draw an parallel by sitting in a car/bus whose all windows are closed and is travelling at 100km/hr. Now bounce a ball from your hand. Does the ball hit your chest at 100KM/hr ? No because the Ball remains to travel with the car at 100/Km Hr. But if you suddenly break, things changes ?

There is something called GRAVITY discovered by a gentleman named Newton years ago. No matter how high you are... as long as you are within the influence of gravity you will be pulled along with it. Its like an invisible metal rod glued between you and the center of the earth. If you want to move you have to do work (kind of ) against gravity.. thatz where the propeller helps.

OTOH, if you really want to move by just jumping high.. you have to jump high enough so that you move away from the influence of gravity. Thats where the satillites orbit the earth. You may probably need some super charged rocket shoes and other gear for this. ... remember geostationary satillites are also moving along with the earth speed of rotation and they do have thrusters to do the job... However, high up there at inter-stelar space you don't need much of a thrust as air-friction/drag is not there.

On a similar note, imagine what you happen if the earth suddenly stops rotation... Should we all be thrown out of the surface??.. Or what would happen if the sun suddenly disappers??.. these are some interesting questions and they do have confliciting answers between Newtonian physics and Quantum physics.

Does anybody know why the earth rotates and the involvement of Law Of conservation of angular momentum?Further can anybody explain why tides or waves occur?

Our earth rotation speed was not that high as it is now it was hit hard by a celestial object which resulted in more rotational speed .(Saw in discovery)

... Which part of it do you have problem with? I think you have some other element in you question that is bothering you.. Let us know your complete thoughts.

Further, even if you create a large or small vessel you cannot do what you wanted with gravity.

Their is one called airship (lighter than air vehicle ) amazing. Run on hydrogen or helium.
Only drawback for those is time.

But ur question is good.I am too confused that what is the need of aeroplanes when we can travel anywhere on earth within 24 hrs.
