I was just wondering what you guys use for general photography .
Please post the camera model and details over here ! :)
I am currently using a Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera
Its effective MP is 14.2
Stock 18-55 VR kit lens
Regards ,
Sahevaan
I would also like to know which cameras do you guys use for video recording your flights?
I use a Nikon D80 with 3 different lenses.
- Nikkor 50mm prime lens
- Tamron 28mm - 80mm lens
- Tamron 75mm - 300mm lens
I was planning on getting Nikkor 50mm f1.6 soon too. How is your prime ?
Ha ha!! Aeromodeling has become a 'Saut' for my photography. My gear would sound pretty dated with a new Camera body coming every year:
Canon 20D Body
.Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 SP XR Di LD
.Sigma 400mm f/5.6 HSM APO Macro (poor man's Tele)
.Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro (Sturdier Non-Di one)
.Canon EF 50mm f/1.8
. Amnova Carbon Fiber Tripod AT CF885 with Pan and Ball head
.Cullmann Magnesit 35 Nm Ballhead
. LowePro Minitrkker AV / Tamrac Expedition 3
. RS-80N3 Shutter Release Cable for 20D
. Seagull Right Angle Finder
. B+W CPL, Hoya UV/Warming , Tiffin ND Filters
. Cokin P-Series holder with HiTech Grad ND Filter (.9/.6x)
Few of my clicks could found at (found that Flickr Pro account expired. sounds too costly at $24 now!!)

Ujjwaana - Nice collection of lenses !
Thanks Sahevaan... it was when I considered Photography as a costly hobby.
BTW Nikkor 50mm f/1.6 !! As far as I remember they had f/1.8 and f/1.4 in 50mm range ! 1.6 sounds a bit odd. Its Better to go for f/1.8 as it is time proven lens... and if budget permits, f/1.4
Ujjwana - I had a look at your photos - Wow !
+1 . Absolutely stunning!!

I use a Sony DCR SX-63E. A pretty basic model but zoom is very good and the picture quality is also acceptable. Now, though HD cams have become very economical.
The 5889 vid in my youtube channel has been shot with the same.
My bad , It was the Nikkor 55mm f/1.2 lens or the 50mm f/1.2 lens ! Pretty expensive !
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/50mmnikkor/index3.htm
(I doubt they are still made but finding for a second hand one wont be that hard)
Though instead of buying that lens I got a gasser :P Now I've started collecting again for the lens !

Oh! I love this lens. One of my favourite. I get awesome depth of field.
This is just a awesome lens.
And BTW mine is a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
Cheap and good, rather I would say best.
The Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 is the fastest lens available ! Its supposed to have amazing picture clarity and a very shallow DOF on max aperture . Do you have some pictures you took with that lens with max and min aperture ?
Canon 590IS and
Nikon Coolpix L23
Sony TRV275
Just a beginner......
Nikon D3100
Nikkor 18-55mm
Nikkor 55-300mm
Hoya UV filters
Kenko TelePlus 2.0x
Nissin i866 Mark-II Professional
Simpex 2.4Ghz Flash/camera trigger
Tripod
@ANTA - How is the AF of the 55-300 ? Is it fast enough to catch action ?

No, it's a slow lens. For fast lens, check this http://www.nikon.co.in/en_IN/product_details.page?DCRPath=templatedata/en_IN/saleable_product_information/data/NikkorLenses/FXFormat/Zoom/TelephotoZoom/AF-SVRZoom-Nikkor70-300mmf4.5-5.6GIFED.xml&CategoryID=gp11zkyu¤tTab=gp11zkz5¤tLink=gp11zkzb

Usually I'm using it for capturing close-up pics of my family members...... :giggle: As you can also try, taking pics of somebody at night from a distance of about 10~12 meters using zoom and built-in flash gives you a nice image (There are many otherways normally photographers do....). About the review :- As you may know, I'm just a beginner and it is my first DSLR and lenses; so still learning......
sony ericson c 905 , 8 mp , autofocus .
i really want to have a good camera like SLR , i dont know where to start , like i had a talk with a professional photographer once and he told me like 1.5 lakh of budget , then i shutup.
Vineet, you do not need to have 1.5 lakh for a SLR camera.
You can start off with the latest Nikon D3100 DSLR camera or Canon EOD 1100D and both the cameras come with kit lens.
Price range between 29,000 to 31,000.

You can find better deals on eBay also.
Like I have mentioned before, I personally use a Nikon D80 which is not manufactured anymore but you can see the pics I have shot from the URLs I have shared in my earlier posts.
Remember, photography is not about the equipment, its more about what you see and would want others also see the same thing you saw. Equipment only helps you click with many features and settings to get the right quality and the details you see with your eyes.
Its not the equipment which makes you a photographer, its the composition that makes you a photographer.
With a good equipment, even a 3 years old kid can shoot pics but he is not a photographer.
Hope you got what I am trying to say and helps you get into this hobby as well because I am into both photography and RC.
o many thanks dear dst ,i already view the pics taken by you , like to say very life ly and impressive .
i will surly get in touch with you again when i buy. hope you help
thanks
@ANTA - Thats nice ! No distortion in the night pics ? I mean without flash ? (not considering the digital noise)
@Vineet - The D3100 is a great camera for a begginer ! Especially for starting off with ! It has all the features you would need to take pictures and many buttons to play around with (but not so many to confuse you :P ) The pics are also of amazing clarity (that ofc also depends on your lens)
sahevaan plese man , yes i am a begginer but i like to be ready with latest amo
anyways thanks man , i will google it .
Vineet, u can get in touch with me any time.
Would love to help u and any person in the hobby RC or Photography.
And i recommend u check out www.dpreview.com for any camera info instead of Google.
Not that Google will not help but DpReview is one stop for all camera info with all the latest camera reviews one can think off.
Do check it out.
COOL
I have a Nikon D5000 with 18-55mm stock lens and a 35mm DX f/1.8G prime lens. Most of the time i have the prime on the body.
But am still learning....

+1 to that... I bought my D3100 kit for :Rs: 28,500/-.
These pics are my Night Time Pics without Flash using my Nikon D80.
Used tripod though.

Nice pics...
:help: Anybody here familiar with "Nissin" flashes.
I have always believed that it is the person behind the camera who counts and not the expensive machinery. My first digital camera is / was a Sony Cybershot which I purchased in 2008 for Rs.6500/-. The first 4 pictures are taken with it.
Last year I purchased a Nikon L120. I am delighted with it. These photographs are taken with it.
Warning: The last photograph is NOT for those who are faint of heart.
I sometimes use my cameras in conjunction with my refractor telescope for astro photography.
Btw, the first photo is one of a series of shots of the total Solar Eclipse......................
Nice pictures VC. I like the frog picture the most.
Talking about cameras, I have identified Canon PowerShot A 1200 Point & Shoot (http://canon%20powershot%20a%201200%20point%20&%20shoot) as a good candidate for aerial photography. Inexpensive, wide angle (relatively) and Hd video.
Thanks.
Wow, really like your astro photos VC bhaiya! :hatsoff: Anything related to astronomy/cosmology gets me going (:|~
EDIT : For the picture below this post:
Awesome picture. Looks like a spherical elastic ball. I wish if you could send me some of your astro pics via email!
Rohitbabu, one more for you - don't miss the Sunspots.

Dpreview.com is nothing but a shallow commercial review site. They always take neutral stand, not speaking too bad about anything.

HI, I got an oldie Sony DSC H50 (now not in production).
I clicked this picture just outside my home in gurgaon, when it was perfect dark. With slowest shutter speed and no flash.
Hi,
I use a Cannon 550D. Got it last week only :giggle: so its more like i started to use it. attached is one photo which i took.
Good shot Srivatsa! It reminded me of a similar shot that I took with a Sony DSC S 730 point and shoot.
Wow !! VC sir you are multi talented :-) .. and i thought i can't shoot that in a point and shoot.. I have a cannon ixus point and shoot . . Will try doing it ..
Thanks Srivatsa, not talented, just like to experiment. When I only had the Sony, I tried and tried and tried. Now that I have a better camera, I seem to have lost the interest to experiment. RC takes up all my time. Here are some more from the same camera.
i desperately need a photographer (With a cam of course), my vids and pics sucks. VC will need your help whenever you are here
wow !! vc sir first photo is awesome.. .gives a feeling like , frozen in time kind of ... you are multi talented ..

Vineet, you do not need to have 1.5 lakh for a SLR camera.
Its not the equipment which makes you a photographer, its the composition that makes you a photographer.
I would venture further and say that - for the vast majority of amateurs - you don't even need ( as different from want) a DSLR. Today's "bridge" cameras are packed all the features you would really need. Under most conditions, they give excellent results comparable to most DSLR "kit" lenses. It is mainly in low light situations that they fall short. ALL major brands have one in their stable ( FUJI - HS 30, CANON SX 40 HS, etc.) and priced in the 20 - 24k range. Look at these as , say, a Futaba 8FG. More than what a beginner needs. How many need a 12MZ?
I fully endorse that the person behind the camera is, ultimately, what counts.
