Just thought about the hobby. After getting news that a student of BE&SU died (?Suicide) in residence for depration (?). Lack of motivation?
Does any lady is member of our member? I think not. But support from a lady works a good support for everything. I saw VC's daughter to take part in workshop.
Why no lady seen in this field ?
=> For Fund ?
=> For time?
=> For patience?
=> For loneliness?
=> For any other reason?
=> For family burden?
=> For cleanliness?
I have seen that girls are interested too :salute:, but why not ladies?
Or Our workings keeps them distant from this? :giggle:
A clear idea is required based on experience.
Thanks

I feel, family responsibilities they have (kids and husband and some times husband's mom and dad and some times brother and his wife too...). :bow: Beleive me, based on my personal exp ladies want to be part of this hobby (those who have a desire for it) but its only the responsibilities which cant be delegated to anyone stops them to join this. :banghead: We guys have no responsibilities honestly :giggle: (apart from handeling a business or boss in office) which may be malhandeled ;D or delegated >:D for time being. Just imagine your lady giving preferene to an aircraft rather than you ;) :banghead: 8-) :o
Well said asinghatiya. We do sometimes "manhandle" our responsibilities at the hobby to steal time for our hobby :)
I don't agree.. I think ladies brains are just wired differently.. They just don't get our obsession with these "toys" (also cars/bikes/gadgets etc).. The same way we don't understand their obsession for shoes and bags (especially the tiny useless ones just big enough to hold a cellphone)..
With a few exceptions of course..
Ha ha ha, if you are 87 born then probability is high that you are not married. So still unaware of a life and a lady beyond your imagination >:D
But you are very right saying they are wired differently, yeah they are if not less 100% more efficient then us, they are expert of multitasking, expert of human nature. I thank god that they are not in this field .... {:)}, otherwise we all will starve for breakfast, lunch and dinner and care. :bow:

Now that I agree with :thumbsup:
Women or girls are there to take care, cook support encourage us & thats the reason we all are here flying rc planes, as far as girls are concerned they have other hobbies as compared to boys & also say the same thing in their field why dont boys come n join our hobby.. there are girls you can say 0.1% of the total aeromodellers..
Jelousy! Take my word!
They cant see such beautiful EP/Nitro ladies flying higer than them!! :giggle: :giggle:
But earnestly, I guess MedicineMan is right. they are wired differently, most of of them. Most of my hobbies were 'All Man's Land' except few ladies in Trekking and Photography.

I think she used to show interest in my hobby only to spend time with me.
Men are hunters and women gatherers. (stereotype)
So essentially anything that flyz (evolved from spear) is a mans domain (by and large)!!
;)
I want to see this from the perspective of my mother,she does not give a damn about RC.My dad is the guy I preach to but he does pay some attention.My brother seems to like RC now that I have got a new rc car.
Going to girls,as Aneesh said,they are wired differently.They just cannot understand what we do.
Women I think are too related to this hobby indirectly.
They provide nourishment and refreshment and comfort to their husbands and sons after a hot day at the flying field, there's no harm if they spill a word of hate or two..its just for that moment and is forgotten!
Believe me when I say this, most of my electronics are sponsored by my fiancee!! hahahaha ;D

+1, you spoke my mind out!
My take on the reason:
-> Medicineman is right, they are wired differently
-> Men like a lot of mechanicals, electricals around them - hence, very few women even in Engineering classes in these streams
-> Women and machines never go together - ever heard of the three things never to follow on the road: Public Transport bus, Autorickshaw and Women driven/rode vehicles?
on this I would like to share a joke
Dr Ghayal Patient se ....."Jab car ek lady chala rahi thee to tumhe sadak se thoda door chalna chaheye thaa" ;D
Patiant: KISKI SADAK :o........., mein to khet mein lota le ke baitha thaa...... :banghead: :headscratch: >:D
@Drone - I second your say!

Maybe we don't want to see similar stuff with planes!! My two daughters roll around on the floor watching this.

That was good ones!
No offence meant to anyone, I am as much a male chauvinist as the next guy. However, the day society REALLY stops differentiating between male and female capabilities, we will see a lot many more Lady Flyers in our midst.
Stereotyping, typecasting, conditioning call it whatever you like, society sends out covert messages as to what we are 'supposed to' or 'not supposed' to do. How many men would like their wives to vanish on Sunday mornings to fly RC aircraft? Or for that matter would you like your wife to smell of petrol fumes and not Diesel perfume and would you cook/warm up dinner for the family while she tried to trim her Heli instead of her nails? We will forgive our teenage son if he crashes his first RC, would we do the same for the wife? Or would that be a nice example (of how daft the women are) to share with the buddies over a few drinks? :banghead:
How many parents would like to trust their 4 year old daughters with a Futaba and a RC Car? But when it comes to a boy - ah well 'Boys will be boys...........'
From my personal experience, I have met a lot of young ladies who can make beautiful gliders faster and fly them better than the boys can. They have the interest but they will not be nurtured. They have to be turned into good executives and housewives. Sure they can have hobbies like reading, poetry, photography perhaps.......
What are we scared of Guys? Competition? Be honest..............
Apologies to all - make your wife, girlfriend, daughter, niece, neighbours wife, MOM read this if you dare. ;D
Amen!
+1 VC sir :thumbsup:
VC, not all are the same. I am not married yet, But given the circumstances that my sister / sister in law/ Mother / any other lady relatives were interested in this RC Hobby / any other technical hobby, I would have been more than interested in supporting the same. And its good to have company and I would not call company as competition.
In a nut shell, I can say that if there would have been an RC shop and a saree shop side by side and they visited these shop 100 times,
then I can 100% confidently say that they would have been inside the saree shop all 100% of the time!
Last time when I spooled up my bladeless 450, my mom shouted, take your stuff to your room. Cant you see Iam watching the serial?? ;D . Same would have been the response of all the ladies I know till date.
Men would be men and women would be women. And I treat them all equally.
I know a lot of them participated in your shop last time. I was amazed to see them building planes. Just open a knitting/ rangoli design/cooking class next to it and see how many girls attend. ;)
Yeah,my mother was like"Good" when I got my rc car.They really have no idea of what is going on.
I've seen a seperate section for women fliers in helifreak forum..
Ya, just like some men are fetish, some women like technical stuff :bow:
thought Ann marie Cross was famous (and rich of course)
Rich and famous because?
I am guessing she owns futaba or is an executive there?Or is she sort of like an R/C author?(Like Fred Marks or William Winter)
this is what it says,
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204917
Well,I was sort of right.
Good for her.But now,she seems like she is out of R/C temporarily.

And she even flies with the TX behind her back :)

:o
Superb spatial awareness.
I dont have any experiance with nitro engine, but dosent the engine sound like its struggling? :headscratch:
I am still wondering why there was no signal loss when she was flying with the controller behind her back! ;D

HI Care Naman
Welcome to the forum, some voracious posting i must say, keep up the good work, looks like you have been watching as a guest for some time now.
Yes there are women in aeromodelling :thumbsup:
Edit: a friend suggested to modify this post.
Its matter of personal choice above all bhai Aero Model pe dhyaan do dates you can grab later and in India i think a crashed aero model will cost highe. Moreover Girls cannot spend like we guys do on aeromodels they eed logic/argument for everything good thing there are lesser girls in this sport

I'd actually asked my mother the same question and her answer was on the same lines as this.I sort of agree with this but still think girls just aren't into it because they cannot do it. >:D ;D
I think they dont see the positives clearly. Fox example i learnt how to fix things, use glues appropriately, approximation skills etc. These are of no value to a girl i guess and i say this because if something goes wrong in my house its my dad who always comes up with a genious DIY solution and my mom who is always ready to call a professional and pay for the job. :D
^^^^
+1
^^ Absolutely Opposite in my house! :D
My dad wants to call the professional so that nothing gets deestroyed, but my mom wants to do the DIY! That's why, my mom like my aero(caro)Modelling :giggle:
ha ha.
Never had many problems but my dad solves them most of the time.
One of Dave's (RCPowers.com fame) friend Brandy flies a micro-bipe... and she flew really well for first timer!!
<Opps!!! The Time line URL of YouTube isn't working there. Please skip to 2:20 to directly see her flying>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOYHiGIqfro&t=2m20s
I see only bachelors replying on this thread ( take me as exception) :P
^^It's because you already know the limitations of females :P >:D
I also know Limitlessness of males over here ;) :P
;D
I sometimes go to fields with girlfriend but its not always a good idea to take her along because then you have work out in a haste!
But then, its really nice to get company! I simply engage her to handle the camera work! lol ;D
Also, guys never look at a beautiful girl while flying, if you do so- then you have to look for your plane's pieces on ground! ;D ;D
Haha good one :D
Hey, my girlfriend also accompanies me in building...
She is always devoted to my works...
Hey milind, how many girlfriends do you have friend ;D ;D :giggle: :giggle: lol :giggle:
Abhay, I have just one, but for you I am sure that you must be having dozens! LOL
Hai naa....?!?!?!? Isn't so??? Count and reply! ;D ;D ;D
