I found xp sp2 the best in terms of compatibility .My old games didn't  run on windows 7 so i just uninstalled it.
But yes window 8 is the future.

Buddy u can use microsoft virtual plateform to run ur old software on windows 7 one thing must pay attention u use 32 bit architecture for windows 7 installation rest is same.

+1 man! XP SP2 is indeed best in terms of compatibility for games as well as softwares.
