Some facts about Solar Impulse...........


This is pure solar plane.  This single seater has four motors powered by 12000 photovoltaic cells averaging 6000 watts.   Lithium batteries store energy for night  flight and weighs quarter of the plane's weight.  A computer optimizes the power use  and gives flight data to the pilot which helps pilot maximized efficiency by deciding when to climb and when to glide.

The plane weighs 3400 lbs, max altitude 28000 ft, max speed 43 mph, 30 hp, wingspan 200 ft (close to that of a B747-400).
