hi all,
have built a plane using 2mm coroplast material.
specifications as below.
Span - 48"
Length - 32"
Chord - 7"
Wt - 500 gms
Flew with geared 400 motor and 10x8 prop. Test flight was marginally ok. not much thrust with 8.4 v batt.
have upgraded to a brushless motor and with a 3s lipo and 2212/13 motor and 9x6 prop it will clim out of sight in minutes.

Looks like a professional kit !
Couldn't help notice the 3 or so models in the background 8-)
sir can i know how you have made the aerofoil, whether its a flatbed one or the semi flat one or simply the sheet itself and what reinforcements have you used in your fuselage and wings. As i am also making a spad for me but findinng it difficult to make it with in the weight limits any help will be highly appreciated.
hi all,
Thanks for the comments. Actually this is result of my 15+ yrs in Aeromodelling.
I have made a no of models in balsa and foam. never liked a spad. but after getting hands on 2mm sheet
i just could not wait to try it out and believe it you can have a plane ready in a day and also fly it.
the specs of the model are
Span - 48"
chord - 7" constant chord
fuse lenth - 32"
fuse ht - 4"
flying wt - 550gms
powered by bl motor 2212/13 from rcforall
3s lipo 11.1v 1300mah
prop - 9x5
I am planning to make a few more planes from this sheet.
The wing is a simple flat aerofoil design. although a semi symetric would be preferable. i am got 3 wings of different aerofoils to be tested.
you can reinforce the fuse with 3mm ply or 3mm balsa. also you use the plastic in cross grain as doublers.
Use Cyanoacrylate throughout. But sand the places you have to stick be4 applying CA.
Note - when purchasing this sheet which comes in 6'x4', pls do not roll it. instead cut it in 2 sheets. you will get 3'x4'.
rolling disturbs the grain direction and you cannot straighten it out.
Any help needed kindly let me know.
