Title: Avispad from Depron/Biofoam (AUW: 680gms)
Post by: vishalrao on August 04, 2014, 01:22:18 PM
Hard to believe but this 3ch Avispad built from depron/biofoam (Fuse: 5mm/Wing: 3mm) weighs just 680gms with battery and electronics. This was built as a sedate trainer to teach my students. As no aerobatics will be done with this plane, spar is just a single laminated 5mm depron sheet and 3mm carbon fiber tube in 60% of wing span.

Here are the specifications:

Wingspan: 1250mm (245mm + 760mm + 245mm)
Fuse length (excluding motor/prop): 895mm
Motor: Motrolfly DM2215 KV850
ESC: ZTW Beatles 30A
Battery: Haiyin 11.1V 2200mah 20C
Prop: 9x5 Direct Drive e-prop

Had initially put a 10x7 composite prop but changed that to 9x5 direct drive prop (orange) as there was issue with the prop adapter. The plane would cruise along easily at half throttle. It was extremely windy but the plane behaved nicely. Video coming soon...

Thank you Aditya! Such was the wind there that almost all electric planes were toppled during touch downs. It was fun however :)

Actually Plane already outperformed wind when was in action  :)
Also ,how much is gap between propeller edge to ground?
Also Flight duration ?
Will it be available for sale on Kinetic Hobbies?

The gap is about 2 inches.

Flight duration we didn't measure as it was too windy. I suspect one could easily get 20 mins on a 3S 2200mah battery as the plane is very light weight and would fly easily at half throttle on a 9x5 prop even though the recommended prop for the motor is 10".

This wouldn't be for sale but its smaller cousin, OMI, will be up shortly. AUW of that is 280gms and we flew that too on that day without any issues :)
