Hello Friends,

After long time I could get time to post something.

This is a 1500mm scratch built portable ( wings and horizontal stab are detachable ) glider.

I had tried my hands on video editors but this one ( win 10 ) default editor is simplest hence first time i am putting up a video as a built log.

Saurabh sir, that day it was a little windy, remember. Still it was so stable. Everything in this I believe is very precisely designed and planned by you. Be it the servo connector in the pod, the batter bay, detachable stabs, the small plastic cover on top or the way spinner - prop - pod merges together (as said by Iyer sir). That carrying case also has its own story...

This can be considered as a benchmark for all the scratchbuilds.

Utkarsh many thanks for your kind words .....but there are too good modellers around here ......we haven't seen the scratch built masterpieces.....just search on google and you will see many such examples.

That's a really polite response to a somewhat rude comment.
Especially from someone who has not displayed any example of his expertise or workmanship in 11 posts in his 6 weeks membership of this forum, but already has one negative feedback!

A masterpiece by the master builder. A very interesting build sir, any reason why you went for a tractor configuration and not a pusher configuration? The AXN Floater is a pusher right?

Edit: I meant pusher and not puller.

I really enjoyed the video, and I got to say that is some serious craftsmanship,

For all means a pusher plane is very safe trainer glider .... Only drawback ( my personal feel) pusher planes tend to be very tail heavy unless you design a exceptionally long nose ( which distort the plane aspect ratio).

If you go ahead with pusher keeping aspect ratio intact then you would need extra weight in nose ( if you research you will find both Bixler and AXN have nose weights for balancing CG.

This extra weight can either be dead weight or high mAh battery, I designed this plane with available 2200mAh battery so in pusher i would have required higher mAh battery ... ( extra cost)

I tried to keep it at low budget so only thing I specifically bought for this plane was the blades of folding prop ( 8.5x4).

Firstly the video of plane is not the maiden flight..... that is after repairs and plane is intact even after 2-3 landings.

on maiden flight RX lost link within 30mts and with no controls the plane landed on nose.

We can put landing gear on this plane as well but as per the design a single wheel which is half inside the nose is most appropriate.

However due to space constraints in nose i did not attempt to put wheel. Rather I strengthened the belly with 2-3 coat of Fiber glass and epoxy for safe belly landings.

I want to know which Araldite (klear or standard) did you use? As far I can see there isn't any pale yellow resin colour on the model. I am a noob in Fiberglassing stuff. I've tried it once on a piece of HD Thermocol before with Fevitite Standard epoxy and I felt somewhat difficult to coat because of its viscosity(with 1:1 ratio) and the cloth kept moving all around.

That is a genuine issue. I have used standard 2 part Epoxy ( Arildite) & Not Klear ( as it is 5 min epoxy).

We can dilute the epoxy with thinner or any other solvent but the problem is that it eats up thermocol.

So I try putting epoxy coat ( 1:1 Mixture) at one end and then gradually spread it by using a Ice cream stick... While doing so i hold one end of cloth with one finger. Also I use 18GSM grade fibre cloth.

And regarding the color .... I have painted white on fibre cloth coating.

Thanks for your inputs sir. I'll try the method you described. Previously I have used a paint brush to coat the epoxy which didn't work well, probably I need more practice. Tried epoxy thinner buy just as you said it eats foam.

If you dilute the epoxy with methanol, it does not attack the thermocol
