Post by: abhay on November 26, 2012, 12:17:47 AM
Hi all..
I started to build a Piper Cub grasshopper 3 months ago, but was not sure whteher would be able to complete it within this year.
Diwali holidays gave me a good apportunity to proceed a step ahead.

Wanted it to be a parkflyer..

Here is a small glimpse of the thing build(low resolution, via mobile)..many things yet to be done..

will be followed by buildlog..

on a different note, how did you make that cowl?.......thermocol?

yes bilal, the cowl (made today) has been carved out of refridgerator packing thermocol (I stole from junkyard of my friend  ;)  ;D ).. covered by tissue paper and a glue made up of mixture of fevicol+water and some green water color.. Its still drying today :giggle:

More things to add to the story.
>wings has been made out of airfoil proposed by bilal.
>its gonna be my last high winger.two low wingers are still in progress.

here are the build pics

abhay u really have very good building skills.... little fine touches and tricks here and there.... u can be a master of  building....

all the reinforcement has been done by glass fibre rods which is running all along the spars, which may not be easily visible..

would surely love some suggestions as well..

the lower part of wing looks monotonous. :banghead: :banghead:
would love of someone can suggest some color scheme for wing bottom.
i am planning to have white stripes from leading to trailing edge..
will post bottom pics tomorrow.

i think the plane cannot be identified in dark grass. any suggestions to make it look brighter in grass??

more pics yet to come

try putting on some motif or something under one wing...(like in the first pic), and some numbers etc under the other....(like in the second pic)

just put the numbers in white colour

Sure, bilal, we will do the motif thing at one side for orientation..

Just observe the wings of spitfires below. this is what i wanted to say.. green and white is the combination i want..

will have to hunt for opaque white tape in stationary shop.

save the white strips for just one side of the wing.......that would help you in orientation too
but i have this feeling that white strips might just blend in with the background when viewed from a distance
