Hi all,
I am a beginner. I have clocked 70 hours in realflight G4.5 flight simulator using FUTABA 7C. I can even land mustang P-51 elegantly :) in the simulator, i am mentioning this as it took quite a time to learn that. I am planing to build http://www.armadamodels.co.uk/models/ctd_electric_delta_ma01a.pdf Ceiling tile delta (CTD). As it seems less complex to build & slow flying capability.
Following is the materials i have bought to start,
700 kv motor-reason is the CTD builder uses reduction gear box. So i bought less RPM motor
1000 mah LIPO battery
9 gm turnigy servos
5 mm biofoam sheet
8030 propeller
I have made motor mount today using aluminum L channel. Picture is enclosed in here.
Please help me in the following,
1. how to get push rods for servo to control surfaces
2. do i really need propeller saver?. if i do not fit one will me planes' nose break while landing as the propeller i bought seems stiff. Do i have to fit landing gear to solve it?.
advance thanks for your time & response.

Balaji,
You'll need to cover those bullet connectors with heat shrinks for proper insulation or you might risk burning-out the setup.
Which motor and ESC are you using?
Push rods can be made using bicycle spokes, umbrella spokes, gel refills, bamboo skewers etc. There are a lot of tutorials/ videos available. Just search.
A propeller saver is not needed if you are using a good landing gear or landing on tall grass.
hi swapnil,
i am using Turnigy DST 700 brushless motor & Hobby king 30A ESC. I test ran this setup with receiver. Worked good. Even i tested whole electric setup in delta configuration using servos. it worked well.
RB
The DST 700 won't give you enough thrust with a 8x3 prop on a 3s LiPo. And do cover the bullet connectors properly for safety.
sure i will cover those bullet connectors with insulation tape. will 10"X3" propeller will give enough thrust?
RB
Insulation tape is okay but still risky. If possible, go for heat shrink.
Check the propeller thrust chart of your motor. You'll at least need a 10x4 with that setup.
Hi all,
today i made servo mounts. also i cut bio foam in delta shape. i mounted the servos in a scrap bio foam. photos of the same is attached herewith. am i adding extra weight by these mounts?. even the motor mount seams heavy which was made from 3mm thick 1.5" L aluminum channel. i hope i do not end up with a model heavy to fly.

RB
Is Araldite good for bio foam (depron)?. advice please.
Regards,
RB
yeah it won't eat foam and super strong :)

yash
thanks
Just stick servo with hot glue .....it will be light and removal is easy.....no need of so many nuts and bolts
hi almost done building delta wing. waiting for carbon fiber rods for reinforcement from RCFORALL.
Regards,
RB
ESC is placed using double side tape :)
@balajir: Correct me if I'm wrong. It seems you had made certain changes to the original design. There are two vertical stabs as well the design is also quite different. Any particular reason for this?
But, I'll have to say very clean and tidy job.
:hatsoff:
thanks a lot. really i had no intention to follow the plan. all i was planning to do is to build it as light as possible & take it to field & fly it with a help of very experienced flyer :). i am not going to fix the battery now, i hope i will get help from experienced flyer to set it up.

RB
hi all,
finished my delta wing. ended up with 450 gm total weight. wing span is 1 m. please tell me is it too heavy to fly. going to use 8X4 propellers. only battery is to be fixed, which will be done in the field with the help of experienced flyers.
Thanks in advance. photos are attached herewith.

weight is within limits. She will fly good.
it needs vertical fins on wingtips

it was too heavy , the design was not conducive much seems.
Are you the same Balaji who phoned me last night?
How can he get your phone no . ? What did he ask you ?
He was extremely polite, and was enquiring regarding flying field in Delhi.
I don't understand why you ask, or why you have these weird pictures in the reply. In any case, I fail to see what it has to do with you
yes sir, i am the balaji who called on Saturday night.
Regards,
R.BALAJI
Balaji, give me a call on Thursday or Friday, and we will fix something.
Are you off on Saturdays?
Have you contacted flyers in Mundka field, Delhi?
yes sir, i am free on Saturdays most of the time.
I just like to know what people like to talk about . The pictures are my custom title .
