HI guys!!!
i am building 16" biofoam Eurofighter, thanks to VC for sharing plans!!!! actual size was
round 27-30" but i reduced the size to 16" and as per his suggestion i used 5mm biofoam for
strength!!!
project is still under construction phase!!!! cut down all the parts and just put together
pls see the pictures below!!!
not yet glued!!!! will take some time as little busy!!!!!
will be using following motor
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8142
cut the foam, weight of cut foam is around 50gms!!!! after hardware i think it will go to
100gms!!!
started to have feeling that this motor wil give sedate flight and not fast flight!!!
pls provide ur suggestion!!!!!
moreover i am not skilled to fly something like this so i started to think i will crash in
my 1st flight :headscratch:, but that will not stop me from completing this!!!!!
pls provide ur suggestion!!!!!

ashta,
Yes, i am planning to use 2 cell/360mAh lipo!!! but have a feeling that this motor will not be able to provide sufficent thrust!!! what motor do u suggest for this plane!!!! expected AUW is around 100gms!!!
Ashish
for 100m grams this is more than enough

As Ashta sir says, the above motor is fine if you use the suggested props.
however if you want to blaze and haven't yet brought the motor, consider Turnigy C1822 Micro
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5378
2100Kv/14g/3S producing 127g-168g thrust with diff Prop/Lipo combo.
You may also order Turnigy Plush 10A ESC. at 9g, it small as a Cloromint/Moth freshner sachet!!
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=4204
great for both the above motors.

hi Ujjwaana,
thanks for ur suggestion it is good motor even i also short listed this one, but yet to finalized motor, as little confussed!!!!
i hav 10A ESC from RCForall!!! i am planning to use small prop like 4"-5", on 2s lipo (360mA) for 3 s i think plane will be heavy!!!! and have space for small prop only, 7" will be little bigger!!!
will this motor able to give around 150gm thrust????? with 4-5" 2s lipo??

Ashta, Ujjwaana,
any suggestion on following motor????
http://www.himodel.com/electric/16g_2200KV_Outrunner_Brushless_Motor_Type_1510.html
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6744&Product_Name=AD-100L_Micro_Brushless_Outrunner_1850Kv (http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6744&Product_Name=AD-100L_Micro_Brushless_Outrunner_1850Kv)
seems to be a good one with just about 1900kv and predicted 200gms of thrust with a 6*3
subbu
thanks subbu,
i even shortlisted this one but then read reviews and found that his motor doesn't come with motor mount and accessories, so canceled this one!!!!
what u say abt himodel motor mentioned above!!!
thogh bit heavy, this also is a good option. advantge of 3cell too

thanks Ashta,

Ready to maiden and 1st crash
some more
By looking at the pictures the, motor mount seems to be too big, this could cause unwanted drag and reduce the model's aerodynamic efficiency..........but anyways nice build !!
Neat, really very neat build! Don't you dare do anything silly with her on Sunday. She is beautiful.
What is the black wire thingy below the nose? The antenna?

wil try to be gentle!!!
black wire...it is 1 mm CF rod!!!! if for some reason it landed on nose then it will protect nose from brushing ground, and biofoam
Ashish had a nice time with scratch built eurofighter today. {:)} Unfortunately, we did not have the camera to take the videos and pics. I guess Subbu helped him quite a bit and eventually, this model flew really well... Great job Ashish. Everybody appreciated your efforts and built.
Cheers
absolutely a great small plane to fly first we flew our skyfun and then ashish bhaiya asked me to maiden the plane as he said i had more experince flying pushers so i f'ew it 4 times to get it all set up e had to change the battery positions and in the first flight it did not turn left i think due to battery position finally he took the plane on the fourth flight while in air and then did his fifth flight
also i must say it was a pretty fast plane for its size
I guess more details will be poated by ashish bhaiya today
Subbu
thanks Saurabh!!!
hey Subbu thanks for helping me maiden this plane!!!! was delighted to see it flying!!!
it was very small and since it is fighter, it has to be fast and seeing my experience level on such planes, i was afraid to fly it, so Subbu was my test pilot!!!!!
in the morning i took out my camera and kept it on table, but while putting all the things in car i forgot it, and we missed a video!!!!! next time i wil definitly upload a video!!!
finally i used hobby king 1811 2900Kv motor, with 2x3.7gms servo and 360mAh battery with delta mixing and hobbyking 6 Ch DSM2 receiver!!!
i think speed was enough, but also ordered 15-19 gms motor and put it so that it will give more speed!!!!
Ashish, I think the eurofighter flight was Good. {:)} And yet again I think it is Time for you to build those large pusher jets.
What say ;)
congrats ashish for the maiden.
did you check the current. and waht is the auw?

ashta
Thanks Ashta,
i dont have wattmeter so couldnt chk current!!!!
AUW is 110gms!!!
You will need min 30W power to fly this. At 10V, it will be 3A+. Ensuring this wll be good for the batteries.
i am using 360mAh 2s battery!!! till now it seems fine but i think will have to chk flight time!!!

Hi Ashish,
Just remind me this Sunday, I will get my watt meter to the field... we need to check the current drawn on all foamies... this will give us a better idea on the flight time and the battery power.
Cheers
oh..no!!!
i am out of station!!!!!!!!
may be nexxxt weekend!!!!!
Today was nice day for flying here in Airoli, lots of flying, i had in all 6-7 flight, out of which 4 were of my Eurofighter. With the help of Saurabh was able to take video of the 16" Eurofighter.
here are few pics of completed and upgraded plane. changed motor to 16g 1510 2200kv motor from Himodel, now it has got some punch, though it is flying on 2s 360 mAh battery soon will try to test it on 3s battery.
