Hi guys,
I started building this plane yesterday and almost finished it in 2 hours! The only part that is left is attaching the electronics and the stabilisers to the main frame.
This plane is going to be a 3 channel plane.
I have modified my crashed FT Flyer and have changed it into this new plane.

Electronics I am going to use:

1. Avionics motor can't remember the model number but it is quite powerful!
2. Hobby wing sky walker 20a ESC.
3. Wolfpack 2s 1300mah battery.
4. Emax 9g servos
5. Avionics rcb6i tx rx.
5. 8x4.5 prop.

Building materials:
1. Depron for wings and stabilisers
2. Thermocol for fuselage.
3. Carbon fibre rod for connecting rod between stabilisers and fuselage.
4. Glue
5. Tape.

Thanks SI74

With regards
Nitesh

Stabilisers done

Everything done except joining the fuselage, wings and stabilisers

Great to see you active Nitesh

Remember: keep the tail light, balance CG properly

and...

"motor can't remember the model number but it is quite powerful!"  :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Great going Rcrcnitesh. You may use transparent Sellotape for hinges which looks better. But as long as it flies on your control , all these are immaterial . 👏👍 If you use clear tape for wings, again that would look better and would reduce weight of the model. Only at the joints, you need to keep the paper covering so that bonding is easy. Good luck😇. One more thing, once you balance the plane properly, "drill " a hole in the thermocol , so that lipo is placed at the centre instead of on one side.

I forgot to mention that @SI74
Wing span is 69cms.
Chord is 18cm.
Fuselage including the stabilizers totally is 50cms.
Thermocol part is 28cm long.
Horizontal stabilizer is 17cm long and 27cm wide while the vertical stabilizer is 14 cm high.
I am using two carbon fibre spars both are 3mm tubes one is attached to the right of the fuselage and the other to the left of the fuselage they are both connected to the stabiliser and then boom.

I am not looking towards aesthetics at this point I just want to fly my plane successfully. Also don't you think cello tape is weaker when compared to paper tape? My fibre tape role was missing so I had to use this one but once my plane becomes successful I am going to change all the joints with fibre tape and make the plane more aesthetic, may be even color this plane with aerosol paint cans.

@Sanjay sir thank you so much it means a lot to me. Praises from a teacher to a student mean a lot to the student.

Most probably maiden will be tomorrow if I wake up early :giggle:
If this plane is successful I may even teach my bro how to fly :p but first I gotta learn :giggle:.

Excellent nitesh!!
I hope you succeed.
BTW, other than your Ft flyer and this plane; what all planes have you made?
Regards

SI74

How much AUW (rough estimate) do you expect? Do you have 8*6 prop instead?

rcrcnitesh

Around 250grams. Why would you want me to have an 8*6 prop??? @SI74.

Well to be honest nothing else except an rubber band powered ornithopter. Wait for my posts in the future to see some exciting stuff. I have some really interesting plans going on in my brain. @Prabal.

OK. ;)
Keep your eyes open.
I am making a FT Explorer.
Ill be posting a video review soon.
Regards
Best of luck.
One question- do you use simulator for RCb 6i? where do i get the cable?

rcrcnitesh

Yes I use a simulator cable although you can get along with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. Pm me for more details, let's not divert the main topic of this thread.

Best of luck for your ft explorer.

Thank you!
I do not think asking a little question can be "diverting a thread"

Our thoughts may differ.

@SI74 I don't know why but I am not able to fix the wings sturdily in the fuselage. Can I know how did you do it. BTW I am using a Dihedral and you used a Polyhedral. I did attach the wings but the bond wasn't strong enough to be able to fly so I thought let's use rubber bands and it ended up almost destroying my fuselage and wings. Do you have a solution to that problem?

@rcrcnitesh,
You mentioned that "you are not looking for aesthetics"
Why not?
All you need is a sharper blade to cut the depron neatly without jagged edges.
And scissors to cut the tape neatly instead of tearing it roughly by hand.

Doesn't really take much effort.

How do you feel when you look at the builds of sanjayrai55, ashok baijal, kiran rc, romanxdesouza, (even pline and flyingboxcar)?

Regards as usual.

rcrcnitesh

Sir I was being lazy :giggle: anyway I will take care of it next time and my build will be really beautiful.

SI74

@rcrcnitesh, did it fly well before the destruction? 😱😱 I had no problem at all for gluing the wing to Thermocol with HotGlue ( applied over a piece if paper plaster) And I gave extra strength with rubber bands before my first flight. (Hope you did the same way) I really don't know whether it did well because my plane weighed under 6 oz.

SI74

@Nitesh, if you find difficulty with that design, why don't you try this ?

rcrcnitesh

@SI74
I am not finding any difficulty in the design. Although the design given by you is interesting I am thinking out of foam for that design. The only area where I was finding some difficulty was fixing the wing to the fuselage but now I have a solution for that problem. I am going to use wing struts and pins.

I didn't fly that plane but yesterday night when I attached the river band to the wings and fuselage due to the compression and tension it was about to destroy the wings and fuselage and it was somewhat successful in bending the wings.

Plane almost done only control surfaces, wing struts, servos and battery left.

  good going ;D
cant see the prop clearly but once check the direction it is mounted
i think u might need to reverse it

rcrcnitesh

Yes I have to reverse the prop.

I will post the final aircraft pics today evening.
