Hi Guys,

I just got an almost new multiplex easy star   . I personally think easy star is superb for a newbee like me, no matter how many times i crash nothing happens to this superb bird. Yeahhhh awesome , can't wait till weekend  .

Although can we add some landing wheels to easy star Or how do i take care of the fuselage ? Is there any other alternative other than duct tape ?

My brother started with a Wing Dragon, which is very similar to the Easy Star. I flew it a few times in the early days. It did come with landing gears though.

You should be able to get into the "Spad mode" and build some landing gear easily.  How about something like this ?

I just use duct tape on my easy star.. It holds very well... especially since it would do perfect spot landings and need not skid on the ground... anything else might add drag and weight!!  I do flat spin landings and direct touchdowns too... I have never stripped the tape till date even though I fly on tarmac..  And congrats on the easy star... Thats the best way to learn!! (my way  )

thanks for your input , the links you mentioned anwar are superb. Gives a nice idea of what i can do with the landing gear.

As an experiment i might build a landing gear, if i do i will post in some pics..

Am a huge fan of multiplex products..This easy star has everything on it.. GPS, Autopilot,You name it....

I brought at Easystar  out to India from the UK around four years ago and it must have flown it gozillions of times now.  I live in a small rural village and even village kids have flown it who have never seen a radio model before!   Locals have me down as an 'eccentric foreigner'  Its definately the best for a beginner but I brought it because I don't have access to a model shop for spare parts and repair stuff - you just cant break the Easystar.   I also use it with a Flycamone and have some good shots of eagles and kites following it.  I live in Goa where we flymost Sundays from 4.30pm at Divar Island but theres a good spot opposite my home in Assagao.   If anyone gets an easystar - dont modify it.  If you leave it as it arrives it will last for ever.   I also have a 2meter Thermal soarer with an ancient brushed motor and thats really good in your hot sunshine and big thermals.   In UK its cold all the time and you have to dress like an esquimo when you go flying.

Only shortcoming of easy star, IMO is missing ailerons.

Thanks for reply Akshayb,  I have now brought out to India an E-Sport Phoenix X which is an Easystar clone but with ailerons and a brushless motor.   Its a lot quicker and very aerobatic on full rates and power but you can fly it on half power and its just like an easystar with a  sleeker fuselage - Its nice and slow and tame.   Have a look at www.GalaxyModels.co.uk and if they become available over here, then get one.  They do reliable mailorder but you will have to bite the bullet when it comes to the postage cost.   Also Hobbyking seem to have some aileron clones.
In the UK, Easystar owners all remove the plastic Tamiya Battery connectors and replace with a Deans as the Tamiya ones become unreliable after a lot of use and they have a lot of resistance.
I can understand the many homages to Easystar as its such a good reliable, simple to fly hack - if you cant manage this then build a model boat !!!    I also fly big scale gliders ( 1936 vintage) but have taken my Star back to UK because I couldn't bear to part with it and its still good fun to fly.      Cheers.  Harry.

Your post can be infectious and I can fall ill with Habicht fever, though with Swatika of different design.

I dont know how to post the link from Rc Groups.com - so - if one of you web-wizards will tell me what buttons to  press (Simply) I will do so.   However, if you just type Habicht into the search box it will get you there.  The guy who started the thread off is called Suirendoujin and lives in Tokyo so he is worthy of our prayers at the moment.

nice stuff. i had neither any idea of flying nor any interest. till i saw the easy star. i saw review and vids and loved it. most probably going to buy one soon. my only doubts were if this is truly perfect for the first time flier. these doubts are slowly melting away. i always wanted to get an rc plane and slap on a camera and get some cool vids onto youtube. might just do that

and btw... you gotta love brit humor (read blackadder)....

Welcome to RCINDIA....aka ... RC in India. We have a very large number of Easy Star fans in Chennai..... I am one of them. I have been flying one for more than a year now... almost every weekend (Sunday mornings at Kovalam from 8.00am to 11.00am) ... along the East Coast in really windy conditions. I use a 2212/2200kv brushless motor with a 30amp ESC and a 2600mah 3SP1 LIPO battery. One charge of the battery gives me 2 weekends of flying. I take up the model to a good height and then cut power and let the star float down .... it normally takes about 15 minutes to come down. It has had a number of crashes but it still holds up and is almost as good as new.

My friend, Sai, his son  Venkat and me fly together and we are confirmed fans of Multiplex products. Together we have their whole hangar. I also have the Multiplex Merlin and my friend has the Easy Cub, Funstar, Twin star, Easy glider pro, etc. But Easy Star is the highlight of all... very sturdy, forgiving, gentle and beautiful... adaptable to any sort of combinations.

By the way, Mr. Sai is the owner of RCFORALLIN ... a hobby shop and I can say that stocks only electric stuff... He has an equivalent to the Easy Star (a good copy ) which he has named the Shikra. If you or anybody else wants it you can always contact him.

Hi Saju. I have had flights of over one hour with my Easystar which still has the original brushed motor and using the 1300 Nimh batteries.     I can only do this in India where the thermals are big.   A couple of these nimhs will last me all afternoon and its easy and cheap flying.   My Friends 12 years old son from Bombay landed my Easystar in the sea and the motor and esc were totally submerged in salt water which filled the fuselage.   The esc was ok because it was shrink wrapped but the receiver was really wet.  I took the receiver out of its case and put it in a glass of mineral water at a nearby beach bar and swished it around.  Then I left it in the sun whilst I sampled a couple of beers and when I got home sprayed it with WD 40 and brushed it well with a toothbrush paying special attention to the plugs and contacts and all the nooks and crannies.  Left it in the sun again for a couple of days, had a few more beers and when I plugged everything in it worked and is still working.    Thats the Hi-Tec cheapo  receiver for you...  The Hi-Tec servos were ok 'cos we use them in models boats and they are reasonably waterproof and behind their sticky label covers.   Any  else done any repairs/fixes which are not mentioned in the instructions !!!
You just cant break an Easystar.  I have seen the most horrendously damaged stars stuck together most unexpertly with parcel tape still flying years after their accident.  Even seen a twin engined conversion and a biplane conversion - dont know what to expect next.

Just a Thought in case you dont know - You can download the FREE FMS Simulator for a number of Multiplex models from www.multiplex-rc.de/       The one for the Easystar is brill.   You can use your tranny with a simulator cable or the keys on the keyboard.       Cheers. Harry.

BTW if you feel that your FMS model is underpowered compared to your real easystar, then just go to FMS\Model folder, open EasyStar.par file in notepad and change the value in front of the line "Motorkraft: Schub in Newton" from 1.5 to 3.0
