The de Havilland DH.88 Comet was a twin-engined British aircraft designed for the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race. Three examples took part in the race and one of them won it. The type set many aviation records during the race and afterwards, as a pioneer mail plane. The modern features and clean lines of the DH.88, especially in the striking colours of Grosvenor House, the race winner, make it a true design classic

I've based my build on the general layout and dimensions of the FT Cruiser - http://flitetest.com/articles/ft-cruiser-build

Decided to go Corro because the Depron available here is not of an ideal density, and my flying ground needs a tougher Landing Gear, which, again, needs a firm anchoring. Plus, Corro is a great material to work with: very high strength to weight ratio, and good toughness & impact resistance

The stock of Corro I bought about 8-10 years ago is now practically exhausted. After scrounging around managed to salvage some 4 mm & 2 mm - in multi-colours; expect a very outlandish Corrmet :D :D

Someone is going places! All the best Sire - this one will be a show stopper.
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

I will be working out the construction methodology as I go along. As mentioned above, I have used the general dimensions of the FT Cruiser.

The build log is detailed: I do get lots of requests regarding Corro Builds - hope this helps

Mark out the Corro. This is painful if you can't sit on the floor with a bust knee  8) :D :D

Correct way to score Corro for a bend. Use a Phillips screwdriver, and angle it well. The idea is to crush the flute, not cut through it

Sanjay ji, you always inspired to build, nice plane, eagerly waiting...

Cutting the side reinforcements for the fuse. Normally I would use Corro, but as will be evident later, a lot of the fuse will be cuy, and the additional strength is needed. Used 2 mm Ply

Final finishing, and gluing. Oh, I use SR 998 for all Corro to Corro and Corro to wood. Works well for me - the old Avi has 200 flights and innumerable bashes - still going strong :D

I do use epoxy, Cyano, and hot glue when the occasion demands  ;) ;D

Used 4 mm Corro for the Aileron & wing back. The centre part can be cut for flaps if needed

sanjayrai55

Wing halves joined on spar, Wing ends with Ailerons glued

This one needs a nose block at the wing LE as I plan a bolt-down wing. Cut some scrap balsa, glued it together, and did some sanding
