Dear Electric Aficionados !

For years I had wished to build an RC plane. But I didn't have any experience in Aeromodeling nor the time.
So at long last I decided to begin from scratch. After several hours of watching Youtube videos, I was ready to design my own RC model !!!

Not relying on any plan but on the basic principles gleaned from videos I decided to give it a shot. I procured Fliteboard from Vortex RC and electronics from Amazon and set out to sketch the design and then fabricate a model which I dubbed Dragonfly. The fully loaded weight is 900 grams. The wing span is 60 inches and the motor is 1400 KV running on a 2000 mAH 3s battery via a 30 A ESC.

Since I had no flying experience I went out with a group of very enthusiastic and dedicated modelers I knew and they did the test [and maiden] flight.
Enjoy the photos & video of the maiden flight.

Meanwhile I am learning the ropes - evolving from a designer to a pilot !

Very Cool ! Congratulations.
Amazing for a first scratch built and designed. Airplane looks great, I might add.
Looking forward to seeing your video.

For some strange reason I am unable to upload more pictures and vdo's. Pressing the Save button gives me an error message.

I think its the large size of vdo's, but I will keep trying. The vdo's are really awesome. I am pleased with myself :-)

I think you need to put a link to the video, video will be too large to post. Put the video on some media, I use YouTube.

Looking forward to seeing it.

Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

In Jodhpur you have one of the most active groups of fliers, thanks to Sharma's. Recently another friend, Group Captain Shobhit Kumar has retired, and returned for good to Jodhpur too

Kaptain Kool

How true !. It is with Amit and his family that I go out for sorties. What a small RC world !
Yes, I met GC Kumar some months ago and he told me his retirement plans and also showed me pics of a fantastic group of boys in Delhi and their superb planes and catapult launcher. I am also a model rocket aficionado and GC Kumar also evinced interest in rockets, so I am looking forwards to collaborating with him sometime in the future on some great rocket stuff.

Thanks. Love your comment.
I notice that you are into micro-RC. Thats so cool.
I have purchased micro-RC hardware but its stuck in the US because the friend who is bringing it keeps postponing his travel plans [courtesy the pandemic]. How boring !
