I was packing and moving completely out from Jhansi to Shillong. After the truck left to Shillong with all my stuff, I had some pieces of cut 5mm foam pieces left over lying around and I had two days spare before I was moving from Jhansi.

My Colleague's son who had bought HK 2.4 Ghz 6ch also wanted a model to practice after his practice on sim.

I did not have any electronics left as I had sent all my stuff to Shillong in Jan itself. I had a functional GWS 100Li Brushed ESC which I had left by mistake. Five defective 4 gms servos. Two 800 mah 3s which had gone bad, not giving sufficient Amps. A rubber power plane propeller.

Out of the five defective 4gms servos I could recover two of them fully functional by interchanging gears.

For power system I could manage a brushed motor from a defective car central locking actuator which was similar to size 200/300 motor. Prop mount was a toy car part, I don't know for what purpose but it was doing the job of a pop mount with rubber band well.

Plan of This Easy glider was hand drawn cut based on the available sizes of pieces of foam. Stuck together with fabric glue(fevicryl)  and five mins epoxy (fevitie). Leading and trailing edges are sanded. Control horns are credit card pieces. Push rods are scrap steel tubes. Boom is a bamboo stick and piece of carbon square tube of 2x2mm.

Both the 800 Mah 3S were rewired in parallel to provide required amps. For first few test runs and flight test it was giving flight time of more than three mins. It was gliding well, subsequently the battery is deteriorating. Now it is not giving sufficient amps more than a min, then amps drops.  With a new 1300 Mah 3s it should give sufficient flight time with good thrust. The Motor and ESC are not overloading and motor is running warm and ESC Cold.

Uploading some photos of same.

This is not called Scratch build, it is called Building from Scrap. Gr8 one Sandy, you will make me proud in Shillong

 ;D Thank you sir.

I agree you with on building from scrap. Even the servo extensions are made with nokia mobile charger's wire two lengths. Since it has only two wire core, the +VCC and Grnd is made parallel at servos side and two more wires for signal of both serovs are extended.

Nice build {:)}
But please put a better motor on it, this bird deserves it

sundaram

@SunLikeStar Thank you.

I agree with you completely on the motor aspect. I had to use this one for two reasons. first I did not have a replacement. Second my colleague's son wanted a slow gliding model since he is still practicing. for a gentle glide this is doing a fine job so left it like that. I cannot loop with this motor at all only glide.

Some more details on the model

It has only three channel throttle, rudder, elevator.

AUW is approx 320 gms.  with 1300 Mah3s new Lipo it will reduce to less than 300 gms.

wing span is approx 45" including dihedral and length is approx 22"

Thank you  :)

:'( :'( Video is not possible as I have left it back at Jhansi.

Planning to make a similar design model with bigger wing span for FPV with KF2 Foil. will post video of the same.

Today received my second 900Mhz Video Tx which is 800 mw along with 1 watts 2.4 Ghz Amplifier from Rangevideo.com

Whatchyatryin' to do Sandy? Gives us all an inferiority complex??? Bravo!

Gusty, I take strong exception to your statement "you will make ME proud in Shillong". I am just 90 kms away and he is already making me proud! Damn, he made me proud when he was in Jhansi (1690 Kms away) ! You Defence guys like to work in uniform teams, huh? Well here's one demi Fauji hogging Sandy's limelight! ;D :giggle:

Good going Sandy, now just get down to Guwahati, as promised. You too Gusty, enough is enough, waiting.................

God bless!

One more easy glider not easy, because but for the wheels, servo, receiver, ESC, brushless with prop, all other components are scrap.

Building Materiel high density thermocol wire cut reinforced with bamboo strips and epoxy, sealed heat shrunk with brown packing tape.

Nice build once again {:)} and three cheers for packing tape :goodjob:
The v-tail has just elevator or it has rudder also. I had very tough time with my first and last v-tail; it was almost impossible to trim >:(
but the good thing is you've got ailerons

vineet

hope for the good maiden ,  like to build one , hope it give a smooth flying pleasure.

electronics??

sundaram

Thanks for the compliments  :)

The V tail is on V tail mix so it has both elevator and rudder. The ailieron is on flaperon mix so both flaps as well as aileron function.
The motor is aerelon 790KV 400 watts. 13x7  prop. 60 Amps ESC. Draw on WOT is 26 Amps, LIPO IS 4500 AH 3S. Servos all MG 9 gms four numbers,

FPV 900 Mhz 800 watts tx, 420 VTL camera.

Had the prevelige of maidening it, like always , at night, under flood lights(hardly a flood) , she flew like a charm, for whom it was being made (major Benny) his heart was in his mouth. One crazy night maiden

It was taken out for a toss this sunday. Gusty maidened it.

Bad choice of day, wind was extremly gusty  :giggle: 100mtrs above ground which we did not realise til the return of the cloud cover.

Gusty took it out for a huge circuit. Moment it reached higher it stated flying at one spot and some times in reverse. Gusty could not get it down because of tree cover all around it would have gone into a blind zone.

After some time we could do nothing but cut throttle and let it land down wind .

Gusty and benny recovered it in time. Was told it was in one piece and intact inspite of the crash however one of the villager was ready with a huge boulder to smash it thinking it was some kind of bomb. Only saving grace was one of the other villager was advicing the first that it might explode if smashed. They we're getting more and more petrified with the throttle sound given  to trace the location.

Thanks to gusty's iphone compass and GPS it was recovered in time.

All the while I was busy taking wify out for shopping  ;D

Three flights and some hard landing it is still one piece on the way to it's destination with only one prop chipped.

Gusty has some videos on his phone would request him to mail it to post

rcpilotacro

It was one crazy maiden. Strong winds wouldn't bring it back, full throttle , nose dive, no avail. There was no choice but to blind land cross wind. Down wind would have been disastrous. Scratchless blind landing, I amazed myself, Wonderful flying by the bird. Day was extremely windy though. Video downlink was great. Lack of OSD wil pinch Benny. For LR FPV, direction is a must, otherwise aero will get lost,

Ps
People emulating this model, fit a conventional tail,
Vtail, and flaperons inverted v tail, accurate angle of the v will complicate the matter,

Thanks Nithin. I presume you were refering to the second one. Beni flew this model for quite sometime afterwards for more than an year. This model refused to die inspite of innumerable bumps and rough handlings. Foam and tape heat shrinking is a winning combination.
