I've been wanting to improve my flying skills and needed an aerobatic model.
Decided to build an Edge 540T using Coroplast (means I can bash it around, without worrying about crashing :giggle:)
Proposed Specs:
Wingspan : 42 inches
Length : 42 inches
Expected AUW : 1000-1100g
Motor : Turnigy SK3 3536 1050kv with a 11x5.5 or a 12x6 prop
ESC : Turnigy Plush 40A
Battery : 2200mah 3-cell 20C Lipo
Here Goes.

Nice, Maahin. Good luck :thumbsup:
I am really looking forward to this build. Then I will swipe it off you and you can build another one.. ;) ...Great work
Subscribed all the way here from Namibia. please update as much as possible. :-)

I felt the Ailerons were very stiff and not wanting to overload the servo, I cut a few slots in the hinges.

Horizontal Stab/Elevator
Again, made using doubled 3mm coro

Maahin - the part of the Horizontal stab aftward on the side of the elevator is prone to bending
Put a reinforcement on it
Sanjay sir,
I have seen u always advice other hobby person for correcting their rc models
it means u have deep knowledge of rc plane building
i am also interested in rc plane building
kindly tell from where u have got / learn this knowledge
from any institute or self learning

Kamal, I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession, and a hobbyist by passion. I am also old enough to have made loads of mistakes, some of which I have learnt from :giggle:
As wise Dumbledore said, ''I make mistakes like any other person; in fact, being considerably more intelligent my mistakes are correspondingly greater''
Now, let's not hijack Maahin's thread. Observe, think, practice - that's the way
Wise words by Sanjay sir {:)}
@Sanjay Sir
I didn't get what you are trying to say :headscratch:
Are you referring to the counterbalance?
Nice build
Thanks :thumbsup:
Great going maahin keep up the same pace {:)}

Maahin, just what I said. The elevator is cut out from the Horizontal Stab, leaving 2 thin strips at the back. These need reinforcement or they will 'flutter'

Great. Was this done from a plan .. Or you adapter it in coro .... Would definitely like to construct one ... Hats off
Getting the perfection in your build....
Nice and new plane in coro.
I took the dimensions of the Edge 540T from the FAI website, then scaled it down. Also made a few changes to adapt it to coro
The plane is very heavy and needs at least 70% throttle to fly level. It does the harrier pretty well and hovers at about 75% throttle so the thrust is enough, but the wing loading is very high.
I am planning to use a prop of lesser diameter and a bit greater pitch, which would allow the plane to fly faster.
