Hi,

My first aircraft is ready for maiden flight tomorrow (profile of a microlite). It took just over an hour to fix the plane, due to a few glitches. The kit was robust other than a few points on the CF frame had to be glued back. I am using the Turnigy Nano 1000mah so I could not use the existing battery compartment. Had to modify to Velcro battery behind pilot and Rx as Pilots head rest :-)

Flight log:

16July11:   Static Test -
Power up test: Ran foor 24 minutes on a 1000mAH battery -
                 Temperature:  ESC, Motor, Battery normal.

                 Modifications: Protection of Elevator Servo -- 10mm from ground level - Used old plastic card as shield;
                                      Hot glued the 25gm ballast

17July11:

      GT-700 Maiden Flight
Location: Hoskote Lake bed @ 0730hrs
Weather: Overcast ~ 10kmph gusts from West
              Ground: Soggy after rain
Status: Crashed - Plane flipped after wheels of ground and landed inverted - broke propeller. Airframe intact

Took a right turn @ Andrew Woodcraft and went straight down to lake bed & found myself alone there. The conditions for flying were non-existent but decided to take the plunge  :banghead:. Found a decent patch hard enough for a run-up. Did a few trial run on ground and aligned to take off. Waited for the wind to calm down no avail and went ahead (fool hardy novice decision) the craft took off the ground few inches with little elevator then a gust of wind flipped the model on to a bush and two blades of the prop broke.  :headscratch: Need a hard strip about 75ft I guess & a new prop.

hey arun, we have a runway strip in hk. sorry couldnt join you. for the power setup it looks like, not a good idea to test it in this weather.

No worries, let me get a replacement prop and we'll get it off the ground.... :)

24July11:
Yesterday received a 8x4 3 blade counter rotating prop from M/S.Sai and trimmed the edges to fit as 7x4 & balanced the propeller. Static test complete and will plan for 2 test flight 1st week of August.

Doubts:  How much does it affect the performance of the propeller if 1/2" trimmed of the prop edges

:salute: Thanks Ashok for taking us to Hoskote RC air-strip, really appreciate it  :hatsoff:

14Aug11 Trial 2:

-- Trimmed 8 x 4 to 7 x 4 could not provide enough thrust to get GT-700 off the ground :
Thanks Ashok for the inputs/advise on thrust & trouble shoot glide characteristic's CG, AuW.

Next PoA
-- AUW reduction to 315gms atleast:
-- Try 7x4 Master Airscrew Pusher prop
-- Try with lighter 850Mah battery and remove 25gm ballast (35gms savings)

As long as the airframe is fit will trouble shoot to get her up in the air....
