Title: ETOC MX2 Indoor 3D Build Thread..
Post by: umayash1 on December 27, 2013, 04:27:12 PM
Hi,
Starting a new Thread For ETOC MX2 Indoor 3D (Competition Air-frame), Airplane Will gonna build totally from Scratch using 3mm Depron..
As I am already flying an old overweight Star EPP that I still have.
The aim is to build something that flies a lot slower, to make it easier to fly in Indoor Areas.
I would imagine that planes intended for F3P-AM would suit my needs.

The equipment I have available is as follows:
Motor: Turnigy 3020 Brushless Outrunner Motor 1800kv
Prop: GWS EP-8040 (5.3g)
Receiver: FrSky 5ch Ultra light Rx.
Battery: Turnigy nano-tech 460mah 2S 25~40C Lipo Pack
Esc: SkyWalker 20A

The real reason for making this plane is to Learn Air-Brush painting Techniques, this was Actually my first try..
Whole Paint is done using simple Locally available Spray Paints..

@ManojSwizera:- Here is your Answer:-

No Need to use any Imported Foam Safe Spray paints,
Use any type of Spray paint Which is locally Available Like AeroSol etc.
But only After Watching This video.

@umayash1
I presume you got these fine results by masking and spraying from 1 foot or so away.
Can't believe you did it from 11.8 inches as the video took over 4 minutes to say!

@umayash1
What's the AUW? 150gms?
If so 2.5 oz/sqft?
Best i've managed is 6.5 for Magic, 6 for Spitfire and 4.95 for small bipe.
Have your MX2 plan, have 3mm depron.
Inspired by your build to attempt under 3 oz/sqft.
What is the current draw?
My 350 mah 2s batteries (ex Nine Eagles) can't do 3amps.
And my next size 2s is 1300mah, 70gms.
What do you suggest? Better 350 battery?
Will use Donkey ST2004+10A Esc combo.
Eagerly await video.

Post by: umayash1 on January 14, 2014, 11:39:24 PM
@Iyer Ji:-
AUW is around 170 Grams, Also used 3mm Depron in whole model..
Current draw is around 7A, 46Watt input power swinging 8X4SF Prop with 2S Setup..
Motor is SK3 2122 1800Kv 55W Outrunner..
And for Donkey ST2004-1550kv, 350Mah Won't do..
2S 460Mah 25-40C (30Gms) would be a better choice and will give you much better flight time with a 8" Prop under 6A..
Will Upload the Video Soon..

Nice flying and your flying field is large  >:D, hard to find such places in Hyderabad. It's interesting to see how you hold the radio, do you use pinch and thumb or how do you move the sticks ?

@Sahilkit- Thanks, And Sorry I havn't seen your reply. I use stick Pinch All time. It doesn't matter how you hold the Radio, it's better to maintain that style always. Changing the holding way of radio and stick again and again is a pain, Specially when you are doing precison Flying.
