Hi
I have been searching a lot on construction materials that are easily available. Foam is one among them. I confused with the types .. From what I know ...
Thermocol is EPS ( ploysterene ) many densities available
EPP ( poly propelene ) supposed to be best for construction but not readily available ( I don't know how it looks like even if it is available )
EPE ( poly ethelene ) some what like EPP but some googleing says it really good for construction.
If any one could help me find the differences and how to identify a foam from other .....

EPS is used in packaging, you will find when you buy TV.
EPP is expanded polypropylene best suited for RC plane building.
EPE is also used for packaging, it s in form of sheets. If you have ever bought Hard drives usually it is in a white cover, that cover is EPE...

Thanks abdulka81 ... But where EPP is used other then rc and how does it look ?

abkulka81

EPP is in particular used for expensive and vulnerable electronics products or moulded parts for, for instance, the climate-control and the automotive industries. In spite of its low weight, EPP can absorb large amounts of energy and has a remarkable ability to restore its shape after being subjected to static or dynamic loading. The deformation is very balanced, independent of the direction of the impact/ load. EPP is temperature resistant, absorbs hardly any water and is effectively resistant to chemicals and oils. The product density of EPP can be specifically tailored to each application or purpose. It has good heat and cold insulating properties and is easy to clean. Because EPP is extremely recyclable and does not contain CFC or other propellants, it is very environmentally friendly.

docnayeem, please let me have your address and I will send you small samples of Depron/ Biofoam, EPP, EPO, Styrofoam, Coro et al (whatever I have in stock). You can take these samples and show it to various dealers. They may have it and are probably selling it under a different name.

Regards.

There is one more Foam called EPO: Extruded Poly Olefin. Strong looks more like thermocole can withstand lot of crashes, accepts CA to repair faster and it bends twists like OHP sheet. My Sky easy is made of EPO.

Hi everyone
Today during my quest to find EPP foam I came across a new foam type called ' crosslinked foam or EVA foam ' Its absolute fracture resistant highly resilient thick ones are stiff thin ones are not quite stiff without reinforcement ...
Any one has tried to use this in aero-modelling ?
