Very graceful model....... Both in looks and flying..... Guiding a 1.5 kg model is well achieved by 74 inch wings

I have seen the maiden video on what's app

Flight Report:

For a maiden, it was remarkably smooth. Just needed a little uptrim. I wanted to hand launch, but then decided to do a ground take-off in case I wanted to abort

Battery consumption is very low. I used a 3000 mAh (for CG reasons) and as per my wattmeter was left with 87% battery after 3:34 minutes. This was exclusive of initial testing. With this battery, 2-25 minute sorties are a reality :D

My aileron throws, at low rates just 12 mm up and 8 mm down, were too high!! Granted one needs time to get used to the model, but it could turn on a 1 naya paisa coin  ;)

Landing: knocked me for a Six! Just kept gliding on and on and on  :o  Finally landed in a puddle of keechad

But what a pleasure to fly. Fast, very fast. I was flying at less than 1/3rd throttle, but still fast! And graceful, very graceful. Really u-turned my concept of Gliders

Thanks Saurabh

And, here's the video: (watch in HD)

Many thanks to Prabal for the video recording, and resounding moral support  :thanks:

Thanks Maahin :D

Now I have to figure out the 'slip' method you advised to reduce speed and height for landing. Flaps of course can't be fitted

You are welcome sir!
though Videograpgy was not the best but is okay.
An excellent plane.
Tempting to try out the smaller version

Saw the video only now, as it didn't run beyond the first few seconds earlier.
Sirji,
Yeh to Glider kum, aur Fighter jyada lagta hai!
Not tried with power off yet?
Regards.

Iyer sir

Thanks. Yes, it does fly pretty fast; except the take-off I was flying at less than half throttle!

Oh, and it glides - endlessly :D

Drove me crazy while landing -just went on and on and on!

@sanjayrai55,
Just went through the whole thread and video again.
Was thinking she flies more like my aerobatic Pilatus B4 than the Sunbird.
Was going to suggest you try aerobatics rather than soaring, but before that i Googled RF4.
Guess what i found?
The RF4 is the aerobatic version of the RF3 ;D

So, ladies and gentlemen,
In the next video from Rai saheb,
Expect shark teeth and inverted low passes at high speed with red and green smoke from wingtips...

Many thanks to Kalyan-da Pradhan for updating the links

Sirji,
Since you liked that Turbine Fox so much, we await "inverted low passes at high speed with red and green smoke from wingtips..."

Iyer sir! At my age?  :giggle:

So far I've only seen pics of you in half pants...
And coupled with your numerous and prodigious builds,
I expect you are young enough for high speed inverted low passes...

sanjayrai55

Aah Iyer sir, if you think I am young (not younger ;) ) then you are a really nice man

A few years ago I would do crazy aerobatics. But now, I'm content with just building and flying
