A very expensive electric conversion destroyed within seconds of take off. Even the most experienced pilots make small mistakes which can have disastrous consequences.

Sad.
What was the post mortem, Dominic? A tip-stall?
Jaw-dropping.
You should also have included the close-up recording of the crashed plane (or in this case, debris)
Tip stall definitely but as to cause...pilot did say afterwards was entirely his fault. Climb out too steep but I wouldn't be surprised if the battery packs shifted after take off and altered the CG drastically. The range for CG on these warbirds is quite fine so it could move 1-2cm with disasterous effects. Sad to see it happen.

Yeah, you say that as if it's easy for a videographer to do that. Filming the crash is one thing but me walking over and pointing my camera at the debris while the owner\pilot is quite obviously not too happy and cleaning it all up would not be a great idea. I try to be sensitive about these things.
