hi im just a beginner and i need some help with my first plane........
after reading some of the discussions in this site, i decided to make a piper cub as my first plane......
my first project , a thermocol plane, was discontinued after i found out that i had been building it disproportionately..........
i've attached some pictures of the cub i've built and the motor and prop im using.......
ive posted this bcoz i found that the plane does not fly but just glides throught the air and comes to rest, even when the fan is still running........
i was wondering whether im using a motor that is far too weak, or a prop which is too short...... by the way , the prop's 8 cm in diameter....... the motor was taken from a broken heli.......... the prop has been recycled from an old plane..........      i just dont know what the problem is....... the wings are made of thermocol and the fuse, from cardboard....
if u hav any suggestions, please inform me.                                     thank u.

sorry abt the clarity of the pics but im using the camera in my laptop....

Tell us more about...

Propeller Pitch, Motor's specifications(KV etc) and which battery, AUW etc?
Tell us everything you know about it.

As you have built it disproportionately, It seems like this could be the problem. But Nobody would be able to tell the exact problem without knowing above things.

The plan would be too heavy . Try an all foam fuse or use a bigger motor/prop . The fuse also looks pretty big , the width and height , probably its getting slowed down because of that !
Happy flying ,

the problem is, since i got the motor and prop from older planes, i dont have the specifications...... all i know is that the propeller is 8 cms in diameter and the motor has 3250 written on one side..... and on thing else.... this plane is not built disproportionately.... i was talking abt an older project.... this plane was made to specifications given in     http://www.rcfoamcrafters.com/design.htm

Looks like the prop is too small or the motor is not sufficiently powerful.

May I know how you are controlling it, what speed controller have you used?

Do the control surfaces move, do you have servos attached to move them ?

no i wanted to see if the plane flew b4 attaching the control surfaces....... i have attached only the stabiliser not the elevator or rudder.......

First of all add a vertical stabilizer then post a video of how it is flying.

sunk?

hi mate.
I am not a plane flyer but,
the wings look in the picture to have a 'lower' leading edge than the trailing edge
try lifting the leading edge.
