Hi All,
I new to this hobby and while going thru some excellent tech talks posted by Iyer sir I came across the very basic question " How does the plane fly?"
Is it the aerofoil shape or the propulsion system?
i am asking this becasue in some very basic models I have seen flat wings with some dihedral.
Would like to hear from all of you in order to understand this phenomena properly
thanks

In aerofoils lift is produced due to the production of high and low
Pressure area it shape is such that it enable the flow of wind to be faster than bottom due to which a high pressure are is created beneath the wing due to which it creates lift.
And wing which have no aerofoil creates lift because they are placed at some angle with the direction of flight of plane due to which air is pushed downward when plane is pushed or pulled by motor as a result wing is also pushed upward and creates lift
The wing with aerofoil shape also have some angle of attack
And dihedral is only for roll stability of plane it does help in creatin lift
Seniors pls correct if wrong

Hello sir.....
May be this might help.... Hope u know how an kite flies....kites dont have any propulsion system so they backwards.... Planes have a propulsion system that can overcome the drag created.... So it moves forward....
Iyer sir pls correct.me.if I am wrong
.
And I saw Iyer sir flying on a broomstick last Sunday :rofl:
@iyer sir.....
Without propulsion nothing moves forward...????
That magic is known as lift
magic {:)} {:)} :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

@iyer sir.....
Without propulsion nothing moves forward...????
Some magical rocket emitting gases there... :P
its balance of four forces of flight ;)

Iyer sir, I loved that video! Please put it back!
@swapnil,
