Title: little DIY electric Paper plane
Post by: MKARTIKGANDHI on August 21, 2015, 11:28:58 AM
Fun build this little Paper plane

You need a broken 2.5 channel co-axial helicopter
I had one I took out motors and receiver board and recersed the polarity of one motor SO it CAN be mounted ON the Paper plane facing backwards ...
I took two little pusher props and ...with the Help of a straw I made an aprox 30-35 degree amgle with it and tapped the two motors ON them and placed the battery ON the tip of plane to maintain CG and places receiver board inbetween them

Make sure to cut two elerons ..out and give them slight Up angle ...

It fly well inside my Room
Still need to test it outside ...I will do asa rain is stopped .....then only I will be able to know if it turns or not

Just re adjust CG it will fly quite well. Relocate the lipo and do a glide test

Very cool stuff ..... Paper plane was awsm ....mine look same I even have a Micro Camera ....will try to put it ON its not of GOOD quality video but will do the Job ... I will open its plactic case to reduce the wait and find a way to attach it ON its nose ....thanks

You need to adjust CG. Your most heavier components are all leaning towards tail. Major portion of model build, two motors and its prop and mounting. only Lipo is in the nose to compensate. I wonder is it sufficient.

Yes I need To adjust the Cg ...and I am experimenting. With the model wait and turns too

right now it fly with an inclination which is not GOOD looking .... I will get it right and post a video

Its OK if its flying with inclination. It will be docile and easy to control.

Yes but inclination is around 25-30 degree which is kind of like stalling SO that's not good

In micro world its quite fine as long as it has smooth forward flight and not the up and down stall and drop flight.

Did few modifications to Paper plane reduced some dead weight of Paper ....
Shifted Cg forward

And did a test flight today in open ground ...little windy out there

And guess what .....performance was more then satisfactory .... but it did nose Up hover in forward wind ... but it never dropped down to ground becoz of. Wind .. ...
I am still working ON turns .... a test in zero wind condition will tell about that only ....

Too bad the range is very poor cant go more then 15 meters ..

My next mod will be making Paper plane little smaller and lighter SO it could verically climb Up ... during forward wind ....it will be a great sight to see it climb Up like that ....

This is the video of my Paper plane
....fly GOOD ....one problem is range ..it is not more then 5-6 meters SO you have to run along with plane ON ground .....enjoy this and if you have ...that cheap 2 ch co-axial heli then build one for yourself .....
