+1 to Sanjay sir need to try it.
Gusty's Hangar and Introduction.

A Good pilot will practice until he gets it right,
A Great pilot will practice until he can't get it wrong.

This video sent by Pete on their Sunday Flying at Anstey in Leicester.. Enjoy;

A bit more on how Mako started coming from Veteran "The Stig" of RCMF;

" Part 1 of my Mako story

I guess it was about 10years ago , I was teaching a guy in the trade to fly and also building all his models and he turned up with 2 Makos , one for me and one for himself ,

The Makos were for indoor use but he flew his outdoors and was obviously a bit light . He got bored with it and gave it to me so now I had 2 .

I still have one which I will photo later , and its got 3x 5 gm servos and flies on a 450Ma lipo, its very light !

The problem with the original is that as it intended to fly indoors l  and flying it outdoors puts loads on the wings it was never designed for . The wings would bend , and then if you think about it  the ailerons would not work , ( the hinge line would be a curve !!!!!!)  so the only effective control was the motor followed by the rudder untill things slowed down enough and control was restored .

To stop the wings bending I sewed an arrow shaft to the top of the wing, it worked well but looked awful , and so the 6mm winged Mako was born ,where the carbon arrow shaft spar became an intergral part of the wing

thats how it all started for me and Makos ,

Part 11 will follow when its cool enough to get in the attic and get the original down for photos !!
Cheers...

Just as a bit of interest , well name dropping really .
Andy who owns OPTIFUEL has one of my Makos , swapped it for damaged 3D plane.Had his in the back of the stall at Weston Park , he told me it goes to all the shows he attends, and flies in the evening.

It proved so popular with the aerobatic crowd, he ran out of charged batteries.... Pete"

Waiting for part 2... 3... from Pete..

Why so many CAUTIONs?
And only on one side?

Possible Ans:
If you can see the bottom, you'in trouble! Hehe.

KK Sahib, that was just copied and pasted from Pete's email... I will ask him for you next time... Hopefully on the flying field on Sunday if its not a wash out here in UK....

you know that was the last thing on my mind

regarding - down and right thrust

what you will do when you have pusher plane ?  my sky surfer always climbs with throttle , i want it straight like an arrow

vishalrao

I'm afraid there's anything you can do, other than trimming as the motor is glued to the motor pod. Else you could have reduced the climb by giving some upthrust to the motor.

vineet

Trim will not work ,i mean as you do more throttle , it will climb more ,and the motor is not glued , i am using an aluminum adjustable mount

While on the subject of Mako...here are some images from Pete's loft... Enjoy!!

KK Sahib.... Cheers.....     :)   No offence taken as none was meant.. Safe landings is all we wish for now!!

Need help in setting this 3 Axis Gyro as I cannot get it to work properly on the Mako...
The rudder and elevator is working but some how the gyro is not cutting in on ailerons. Allan and I have tried various settings and eventually after spending nearly two hours have given up and will be doing the maiden with below setting..

Any suggestions from fellow RC flyers who have had experience with the Hobby King's V3 Gyro Rxs will be helpful!
ON SPEKTRUM DX8i  Tx Setting;
Normal Wing selected (Delta unselected)
Setting in Aux1 /Flaps/Gyro gain on tx set to ; 150%
Throttle; Normal
Elevator; Normal
Ailerons; Normal
Rudder; Reversed

On Hobby King 3 Axis Gyro Rx ; Arial facing front, looking from back;

Gain on Rx;
Aileron; Not working so turned fully anticlockwise to nill
Pitch (Elevator);  Set to 70%

Hi Sandeep....

I do not have a pdf plan or a dxf file. I had a copy of traced plan loaned to me by a friend and since then, made templates for fellow RC flyers to borrow...

Then again, a friend might be able to help, I will request him.
Cheers...

Sorry I need to re-phrase;

The transmitter moves the ailerons and elevator in the correct directions.

The problem actually occurs when we switch the GYRO on.
In which case the Gyro compensation is reversed on the ailerons but the elevators are compensated correctly.

If we change the settings on the gyro to get ailerons to compensate properly, the elevator direction reverses.

Now a Mako with a "DUCTED FAN"
otherwise known as a "DUCKO"

The Stig and his mates flying Makos in fog on a freezing day at Anstey in UK.... Enjoy the video.

Adysteele

Hi all you flyers in India
I was browsing the internet and came across your posts about the Mako.
I fly at Rolls Royce Ansty in England with the original designer of the Mako (Pete Willbourn - Father of Marcus).
It is a great little plane. We all had a Mako get together last weekend and we ended up with 22 of them!
Here is a link to a video I made when we had a Mako Limbo competition. They take a lot of abuse!

All the best from England
Ady

b4ggu

Hi Ady,
Delighted to see you on RC India... I have been uploading your video links that Pete has been emailing me.. Now I dont have to do that anymore... instead you can keep us updated on the Mako scene.

Still waiting for fellow modellers in India to upload their Mako images... So far only Vivek has built and flown it in foamboard.....
Lets hope we can see some Makos flying in India too... Guys you will love this all purpose live in boot of a car plane..

BTW has anyone got this DEVO 7 tx by Walkera? Its quite small ..I am told it binds to frequencies of most popular makes so you do not have to buy any Walkera rxs for it.. Orange or flysky will do..
