Awesome build!
I know I should wait for a senior to do this, but welcome to the forum! ;D

Pretty neat... keep it up.
BTW,  what AUW are you targetting?

thanks Pankaj

Still the canopy to be done, thinking of making one with the plastic or fiber glass material, but if nothing works out then bio-pack jindabad.

AUW will not be more than 650 grams

Can anyone suggest me the paint technique, because the foam that I am using (Bio-pack) is not paint safe like depron...

Thats cool, now i have the follwoing questions.....

1) where do you source WBPU from? do we get it in local market? if yes then what is the make of WBPU? I am from pune.
2) will it add weight after giving a coat of WBPU?
3) You mentioned diluted, how do we dilute? with water or thinner?
4) Which company fabric paint to be used.

thanks in advance.

Welcome Joe! Nice build. Care to share the plans?
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

The WBPU I use is from pidilite - i.e. the company that manufactures fevicol adhesive. Their WBPU is called Aqua Satin and is generally used as a wood finish. I had to call their sales office in mumbai to get hold of a local office and subsequently a dealer who sells in Delhi. So you might want to try some paint shops first. Check my post on cub trainer somewhere a year back for a photo of the container.
Initial coat is about 2:1 ratio with 2 parts being WBPU. It does add weight - on its own with a model your size would go up by about 40-60 gm. Another method to add gloss is to dust the model with talc immediately after applying the coat of WBPU and then using a very fine sandpaper (600-800 grit) to remove the excess talc. But then this is a weight adding method

Fevicryl is the fabric paint I use and is available in all stationary shops. retails for Rs15 per bottle and to thin this you would need a "medium" also found in stationary shops

thank you guys,

Ashish,

I had this acrylic spray can but it some how eats my foam, though the can says its water based acrylic spray but it burns the foam. I have gone thru couple of threads and Pankaj has suggested me to use WBPU i will try that. thatnks for tip though.

You must have tried with Compressed Can spray.

I have been using just the acrylic paint water based, thinned with its own medium or water along with a compressor and 0.3mm double action pen spray guns with excellent results on all type of foam.

Only on a Taped foam adhesion is poor it tends to peel off on aberration but no worries touching up again has been never a problem.

Cool Built there  {:)}  {:)}

Yes you are right, i have compressed can spray. I do have acrylic water based paint bottles, i have used them on my my SU-37 diluted with water, these paint bottles works great, I used normal soft flat brush and used a fine roller when the paint is wet. the results are good.

My bad, i do not have a spray gun nor a compressor, I have inquired few shop for the gun and air compressor they are expensive, the compressor quoted me was close to 5K and another 3 K for the gun, so i dropped the idea.

Guys any idea of procuring the spray gun at lesser price? this will help other people like me who really wants to paint by themselves.

Whats available through ebay and locally are all up close to 5K. Even I bought for around same price from ebay.com lucky to have received it safe in India.

Cheapest I have come across till now is at HK you can try that after going through the review.
