its my first homebuild electric plane......... {:)}
stickers n decoration is pending but all else is complete.......
almost ready to fly...........

specifications:
matreial:- i got this foam really cheap; its called SUNBOARD here in my place n it's just Rs 100 for a sheet of 24in x 24in.
it's 3mm pvc foam as far i know. :headscratch:

wingspan :-40"

motor:- i modified the winding of cf2812 motor.
earlier it gave thrust of 500 gm with 7x4 n after 10 mins of run , i fried the winding........ ;D
so i decided to rewind it with good wire n now it gives nearlly 700gm thrust at 15 amp n runs cool..... {:)}

total flying weight :- 800gm

servos:- 2 on ailerons n 1 on elevator...... 9 gm each

battery :-20c 11.1v 2600mah

:help: i have not used rudder control , can i fly this plane without rudder control....... :help:

and also please suggest me a good name for this one..... :giggle:

Don't remember seeing such "kewl" wheels anywhere else ;) Very nice

You joined RC India in September, and waited so long for the first post ?!?!  I guess it had to be something substantial :)

Please post videos of it in the air !

hi the plane will fly i guess you have enough thrust put i see a problem with the rudder even if you sont use it please enlargen it as

it will help the plane stabilize better in air and you can fly with ailerons dont worry but try and put dual rates or it will over react and

if your transmitter has flaperon mixing do it it will add to the lift while takeoff

Hi Gurtej,
From my initial experience in building planes (very new my self, had first successful maiden 2 weeks back), I feel:

1. You Ailerons are very small. Usually they should be 1/4 - 1/3 the chord length. The general tendency of increasing the throws beyond 22* usually results in a 'Break' like behavior where your plane might suddenly dive one side.

2. The Rudders are small too. Try increasing it by further 25%-30%. See Dave's  (rcpowers.com) video on the  importance of tail.

I have learned this hard way, so please read more and reconsider your design decisions.

Aileron size is not bad, from what I can see.  I have seen such proportions on multiple aircrafts that fly well before (high wing trainers).  Not that a bigger one would not help, but this should get the job done.

Rudder can use some more size.

thanks anwar.
due to studies i was not able to donate time to this hobby , so it took very long to make one ..... ;D

i have hitec optic 6 sports radio , can you please suggest me how flaprons can help me for better flight n how to activate them.
i have plugged both airelon servos in one socket that is ch-4 , n elevator on ch-2 , esc on ch-3.
is this setting ok......
what will be the settings if i want to use flaprons......

hello,
having all other things checked and  ensured to be fine, the other most important thing is the CG. Ensure that the CG is proper or a shade nose heavy to start with.

1. Check the current and ensure that it is with in limits and as a thumb rule, the ratio of wattge to weight in grams is ie: weight/wattage<=4., but more close to 3to 4.

2.Always do a glide test and watch the glide characteristics, very carefully.
3. If you are new, have an experienced person do the maiden for you.

here is a video of a small plane glide tested at home. For a bigger plane do it on to  grass/ bush etc.

best of luck to you

hi,
for flaprons u can not have both aileron in same channel, u have to put one aileron in aileron channel and other in flap or whatever channel supported in ur radio. and use flapron mix in ur radio, for this u have to check ur radio manual. flapron will help u in sfot/slow landing and take offs!!!

Hi

A couple of quick words of advice

1  put some dihedral - about 2 degrees

2 put some downthrust on the motor - this is important

3 balance the plane at about 25% to 35% chord

hi for the flaperon check this link on page 30

http://www.modelflight.com.au/manuals/pdf/hitec/hitec_Optic_Manual.pdf

trim and reverse the servos accordingly

and please please please please please please please

check your plane's cg and increase the rudder length

subbu

if this is a plane which you built from scratch without a plan finding cg could be a bit of a problem that's when i recommend you do the glide test remove as much electronics as you can and just throw the plane and see if the plane elevates or descends and move your battery accordingly. try throwing it over some soft bushes or in your room just put many pillows down on the floor
or ask your friend to catch the plane but please see to it that your plane is balanced also that if you are unsure practice on sim and let an experienced flier fly it first. i recommend the sim a lot and also choose a very calm day for the flight

all the best
