Dear friends,
Here is my latest model made of HD thermocol....... my first attempt at full thermocol... Though have been making wooden models for decades... as a habit of making wooden models I gave a sheet of 1.5 mm ply on the inside of the entire nose section and two 4 mm x 8 mm balsa spars on top and bottom of the wing plus balsa leading edge and training edge......(I feel thermocol is probably not strong enough to take the loads which I can probably give to my models)......... This is a 4 feet span Trainer model, basically a Glow Plug trainer modified by me to use an electric motor.  I am using a NTM motor (NTM Prop Drive Series 35-30A 1400kv / 560w) for this with a 50 A ESC.  I know it will be overpowered.  I have made many of these models earlier and flown them when I was in school / college sometime on the early to middle eighties..... Presently Sharma Models makes the kits for this model by the name of "Kaiser".  I am using a four channel setup on this model.  I ran out of white vinyl sheet to of the top of the model wing, thus have been unable to complete the covering and the paint job.... it will ultimately sport a white and red Vinyl sheet and a paint job.... Hope it flies well...

Well... the plan is the property of Sharma Models...... ok... but it is a big Blue Print and difficult to copy... apart from that there are many small changes I have done for the mounting of the motor and making the entire thing out of HD Thermodol... I used a 36 Kg / Sq mtr density Thermocol for this model (got it from New Delhi- Kirti Nagar market)...

Excellent build .... Its made in HD thermocol right but has excellent glossy finish ... Has it been coated with something ?

Beautiful model shobitji.
Just of curiosity- Does Vinyl sheet sticks well with thermocol ?

OK... for the finish.... I used transparent masking tape on the wing and tailplane to cover it.  One that was done I covered it will the white Vinyl sheet.  That's how they are so smooth.  Now for the fuselage.... I covered the fuselage with 80 column computer paper.. stuck it to the thermocol with thinned fevicol (used water to thin the fevicol) and wet the paper with water before sticking it on the the thermocol.... thereafter I kept the fuselage close to my hot air blower for the fevicol and the paper to dry.  This way the fevicol dries fast and the paper stretched out like a drum skin.... Well that was supposed to be my trade secret... I just let it out for all you guys to knwo how it is done.  Now once I get more white vinyl sheet I will complete the top of the wing and use red vinyl sheet for making the coloured strips...  one more thing.. I painted the fuselage with Fevicryl... i.e. fabric colour (white).  I will use red colour to make the paint scheme for the fuselage...
Go friends.. paint you models well...

Well vinyl sheets are available in nearly all colours you may like.... You can buy Vinyl and Radium (the florescent sheets which are used on car / vehicle bumpers to reflect light at night) sheets.  I used white Vinyl for the basic wing covering and then I used Red and Yellow Radium sheet to give my colour scheme....

Here are a couple of pictures of me doing the red radium sheet on the Leading edge...

Thanks a lot VC..... you been a great help to me... Yes these are the final pictures of the first flying day of my model.... Called Caiser from Sharma Models - Jodhpur.  It is a 4ft wing span model and am using the NTM 32-38 motor.  Yes I like my models made robust and so it is about 1 Kg with all the equipment put in...
