Hello friends I am converting a normal foam airplane to rc. I have connected servos and other electronics quite well. In the first attempt I tried to mount motor on the front but it was not straight as nose was heavy it crashed. Then I tried to mount motor in front right , left , on top but nothing worked. I am using 9070 prop gws and outrunner motor. I am quite sure that it has enough thrust to push this plane.

In second attempt currently I am trying to make it push kind of system and want to mount the motor facing towards back for which I have pasted a epp sheet as shown in pictures. I need to know will it work ?

What will the best place to mount motor on this plane. I am quite confused please help me to get this fly.. I have invested lot of time in it.

I would also prefer back facing motor arrangement as this will be my first plane and I dont want to screw up the motor.

MODS : Please move this to Electric plane section if this is not appropriate thread. Thanks

Which motors Are you using ?
It seems the 9" prop to be little big for the size of plane...

9" prop is surely not needed... What is your wing span.
And is this model flyable ?

My second attempt also was not able to work. I made an elevated platform and mounted motor on front. The nose is going in front abruptly. I am making some mistake but couldn't able to figure out what.

There are several videos on youtube of converting this toy foam glider to RC.

the main thing is to build it as light as possible. Use two servos only, aileron and elevator.  Use a micro motor not heavier than 25 grams and a 6 amp ESC. A 5 inch is suitable for this plane.

Thank you!! This is the small plane which I took from you and is using the electronics from the cub. I need help in
Selecting prop , Motor and most importantly at what position should I place or mount the motor.

go for pusher style, motor on top

@ 24 seconds, freeze the video and see the setup

A common problem with planes not having enough power is not having the prop sitting the right way. I'd advise you check to see if the prop is facing the right way. The easiest way to check is to place you hand well behind the prop when under power and check the air is moving to the rear of the plane. It sounds silly but such things happen. Just make sure you don't get your hand too close to the prop.

I also checked the motor you're using and you are over propped as sooraj.palakkad stated. A 6x5 should be OK. You would be straining the motor and ESC with the 9070.

With the positioning of the motor, imagine a straight line being drawn from front of the motor shaft and out through the rear of the motor and continuing on. The line should cross the center of gravity of the plane. It also help to have the motor just very slightly angled towards the right side of the plane. This will tend to counteract the torque the motor and prop have on the plane.. I use just one washer under the left hand side of the motor to make it angle to the right. I hope you get it sorted out and flying, good luck.

Pls help.

try flying ur plane as a glider by adding the weight equal to motor, esc, reciever, prop, servo etc which u r trying to add to make it a powered flight, if it is still not flying normal then the weight is the major issue u have to deal with, and if it flying ok then u have to deal with C.G. mintaining issue, if m not wrong i think u r adding to much weight to the glider to make it powered.
