Hi guys,

Started working on a project I had in mind for couple of months. Slowly its taking shape. I have a build thread going on at spadworld.net ( http://spadworld.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=193041#193041 ), will update with more details and pics once maiden-ed.

Wingspan 56.5", spar 2.5" from LE and ailerones are 29 percent of cord
Length 41" fuse + 8" rudder
Width 6" ( And tapered from leading edge towards tail end)
Height 7" tapered to 6 at the front and 5" from trailing edge towards tail end
Rootcord 13"
Tipcord 7"
HStab width/length 18"/7"
Vstab width/Height 16"/12"
Leading edge to Prop 9.5"
Trailing edge to Hstab 11.5"

I am building this without paper/pencil. Intention is to match an ARF by specs and weight :D but, with a single detachable wing. Am trying to mix both SPAD and foamie building techniques to reduce weight and complexities so that it remains 3D and hopefully easier to build!

Will have to wait and see!

Thanks both of you :)  Its kind of a prototype stage right now. Trying hard to finish it by tonight so that I could maiden her this weekend. Mounted motor and tail servos yester-night. Will update progress.

samlikespad

Almost done. Couldn't finish as the canopy is yet to be done as well as some more fine work on the wing. Now I think I should have used the pencil and paper first ;D Scratch building with out a plan isn't that easy  :banghead:

VC

Congrats! Beautiful bird and a very clean build.
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

samlikespad

Thanks VC, will do the final touch-ups either today or after the maiden.

ritz

great built sir
send me some details about landing gear

samlikespad

Thanks ritz, the LG is off-the-shelf stuff I bought from a fellow flier. Its something similar to these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__5576__Alloy_landing_struts_3mm_84g_140mm.html

Though I took her to the field, bad weather (sand storm) the villain this time. Didn't wanted to risk after this much effort on this plane. Did some more painting today and hope that the weather changes soon.

spitfire

Wow!!
Nice painting job. Which paint did you use?

samlikespad

Thanks spitfire, its black vinyl and red spray paint can :D with the help of some masking tape. Very easy to do but wont last much. Usually I apply fiber re-enforced tape to protect the edges from peeling off.

Very beautiful build.. waiting for video {:)}

Thanks Roopesh and Sunlikestar :)

Appreciate your kind words. The scheme is taken from RedBull racing as well as there is a model from a famous brand. Infact their model inspired me to build some thing similar and make it as close to its specs. They have a 58" model which has an AUW of 4.5 to 5 pounds. Took it as a challenge and my build is below 5 pounds AUW with power to spare. The only thing that worries me is the CG as I dont have a definite spot, instead hope to try from 30% cord to begin with and adjust accordingly.
