This is what Michael - who has designed and flown the plane has to say..............

"The plane has an 80 inch span, an 8 foot length and sits over 2 feet high. It flies right now on only 600 watts max on a 3 cell lipo pack. The motor flying it is only a 40 sized Turnigy 42-60 from Hobby City.

About 15 amps or 150 watts are necessary to maintain flight. It lifts of and climbs easily on 250 watts.

Total weight with 2 4000 mah 3 cell packs in parallel is about 8.2 lbs. Total area is 3520 inches square or 24.4 sq ft.

I could not find the prop I wanted so I carved one out of poplar from home depot."

Ha ha LOL ! LOL!!

Its like 'Flying Pregnant YAK' (the real one found on high mountains, not the very popular 3D plane), or may be an elephant with wings!!

Quite an accurate description............ yet the grace displayed by the model in flight and a 8 feet plane turning at such a small turn radius........ great to watch.

8.2lb at 250watts equates to roughly 30watts per pound. I thought the minimum wattage required to lift off was in the tune of twice the amount :headscratch:

Pankaj, It also depends on the shape of the wing and the wing loading, and may be many other factors which I am not aware of now.

We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.

Yah !!! Truly awesome ! I guess it can be made to land on one's palm. Also looks to be an excellent platform for aerial video !

It's the biggest low and slow flyer I've watched but it's the not the slowest lowest plane I've seen. My Pico Tiger Moth with a 5 mph headwind will literally float, hover like a heli.  On no wind days, she can maintain level fight at 6 mph and when I do slow speed runs with high alpha, she is at walking speed.

However, my Parkzone Night Vapor beats the entire competition with a stall speed of 2 mph!

I know its an old post...........But still i thought of reviving this post.......
