Post by: Ashta on March 12, 2010, 01:13:49 PM
Started on this since the first one crashed beyond repair.

after the build, did the usual glide test. It was very fine and gentle.
so tried a hand launch. This happened yesterday.

disaster..... the plane just nosed in and the entire nose crashed.  This happened because, i had given too much down thrust. I just copied the same down thrust as in my crashed Skyfighter. This new one did not like it at all and nose dived on launch.
I was very desperate and there fore decided to rebuild the nose portion alone and try again. Did this in 6- 7 hours.

pl see the photos.

as usual did the glide test. ( Of course changed the Thrust angle of the motor...)
Glide test was fine. pl watch the movie.

Did the maiden. it flew well. I still have to adjust few things to make it fine like skyfighter1.

Ashta ,
Congrats , you seem to be a specialist in Elevon planes , I guess you love that set up.

As far as I remember I think 90 % of your builds are Deltas with elevon mixing

All of us  have a  type which appeals to us and we keep repeating the same arrangement in most of what we do

Great Effort  :salute: {:)}

Thanks praveen and sai. good words and encouragement is nice and thanks for it.
sai, not necessorily deltas, for ex
1. my previous Polaris water plane is Aeleron, elevator, rudder, throttle plane.
2. My 'simple light weight' and 'Bump' was rudder/ elevator
3. My Back yard flier is a  dual wing elevator/ rudder.

yes, elevons are more simple planes.

As you keep on building and flying, slowly but  suddenly you feel small small things gaining more and more importance. For example, i was not very comfortable in flying my skyfighter yday and felt that the controls are not as stable as i wished. After going home, i checked and found that there is a small shake in the elevon horn and control rods. Corrected it and wah.. what a change and comfort feeling  in flying.

I have to little more fine tune the trhust angle too...

but all these were trivial things some time back, but gaining more and more importance as we go along.... like many things in life i suppose...

pl see the video taken today.

It is about time someone join Ashta in building "flying wings" and starting doing combat flying over Hoskote
