thanks i am thinking of using the flaps and ailerons on this one as i dont think the rudder would be of much help in turning ??? ???. any ideas  ??? ???

Read up a bit , the provided  Ailerons on a slow stick are quite useless .

You will have to modify your SS to have effective aileron's  reduce the dihedral , make the wing flat  as well as add a flat bottom to the existing wing to make  aileron's effective

Read on the above link before doing anything  as there is lot info available there that could be used .

Adding A & F without proper Mods will be quite useless.

Check this out as well :

My advice to you Subu is read as much as you can on this conversion as the Slow Stick is such a popular and flexible platform for mod's that what ever you can think up is likely to have been tried .
I am not saying don't innovate and try new ideas like this , all I am saying is an educated, informed mod might help you to avoid certain pitfalls .

thanks sai uncle actually i have gone through all that earlier itself and also i have used ailerons after flattening the dihedral. my question was that will ailerons or rudder be more effective and i got my anwer yesterday itself. thanks for the links

ok guys so finally i am sticking to rudder as i flew it with a flattened dihedral a month ago with ailerons i was quite pleased with its performance but i got it after covering the under wing with tape and so this plane could be more like a beginner edf plane maidening it tomorrow and yes i will take the video .

Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

Kudos for the effort. But a ducted fan will only work effectively when  enclosed or "ducted". In fact the "duct" and its profile can make dramatic changes to the ultimate efficiency.

hey guys flew it today and the only word i can say is superb this is by far the best way to learn to fly edf planes with a little bit of wing reinforcement you can get it to do high speed passes. today i did shoot video but it was not saved i have only one on-board cam video which i shall be posting in an hour and that too raw footage.

this plane is a breeze to turn with rudder and the high speed makes it super fun the plane was about 1.1 kg and the plane took about 2 metres of runway to take off.

finally i am only for fellow rcindia members going to fly it again tomorrow just to give you a video

and today i shot about 25 mins of hd video just to find out that the memory card was corrupted

and as usual i gathered about 60 people and one guy asked me that if i was from iit and i said i was in tenth and you should have seen the expression on his face and anyways when your battery is down on low side the plane will hardly lift-off though i did low level (3meters) flight with it but if you have a full battery i ws about to take it upto 300 or more feet high

and i believe it was waaaay too better than the stock slowstick and my fellow ss owners please do try it or come to my house and i will help you with one

and a high speed loop was enough to shatter my planes wing into 2 and it came rocketting down but the good thing was that i taped it up in 5 minutes and had 4 more sorties.

i loved it now i might put on another one to get more speed

and the sound tooo was just awsome.

so hang around guys for the on- board cam(my moms cell phone) video it looks good but the sound just is a match winner

ps - sahil bhaiya beware the blu-baby cannot i mean it it cannot turn on the ailerons please keep this in mind i tried it all but that thing just doesnot turn i think i will shift to rudder only or if you really want to use ailerons please cover the bottom half of the wing and make it a zero dihedral wing pleaseeeeee  :( :( :( :(

really wow for the effort.. keep it up...guys like u keep the hobby moving. you have taped a cell phone on the baby for the video ?

Pikle6

thanks for the reply harikesh bhaiya today just for you guys did a video and uploading all five flight edited to one now.
too hard to fly this plane in less than 3/4 throttle as today it was 7-10 mph of wind tooooo windy with a few breaks ad sudden gusts anywyi have the perfect video for you guys.

and yes in the previous video i taped my moms cell phone on the carbon fuse under the wing it was quite a challenge to remove the tape

Kudos for the effort. But a ducted fan will only work effectively when  enclosed or "ducted". In fact the "duct" and its profile can make dramatic changes to the ultimate efficiency.

Good effort Subu ,
but I don't see any major speed difference in the Video between this ducted fan ( without duct ) version  and a normal brushless 2212/10 or 13 version . What I see in the Video is the same as the observation of the RC Group thread  that I have linked earlier .

The one Saju has  actually  flies faster than this with a normal Pulsar BLM.

Further the wing does not appear to be flat it  still has its well known dihedral.

Sushil is absolutely right you have to create a duct for the fan to be effective . One of the colleges I know tried this a year back with a 1 KG thrust EDF under  experimental conditions  and the resultant thrust without duct was down to 200 gms instead of 1 kg .So it is a proven fact that without the duct a ducted fan's thrust drastically reduces .
Hence the flight video proves what I had expected  just the addition of the EDF alone without the duct cannot boost speed.
So I would  suggest you take a card board tube like the ones that shuttle cocks  come in  and enclose the EDF in it , narrow out the rear end to  enhance airflow speed , this should give you much better speed , mount this  whole tube above the wing , make sure to flatten out the dihedral even if you are not using aileron's , also use tape or something similar to  make the wing bottom flat ,this should result in a FAST STICK  ;) ;D

the plane in the video could not be flown fasten as it was already hard to control when the first day i flied it at 8 am with no wind it was a lot faster but anyways i will try to incorporate that in the next flight only after 5th november as my exams are coming

can any one explain me the use of ducted fans and ducts-how are they useful and better

They are just a different class of motors, not necessarily better overall.  One good thing is that they are generally well protected in the "duct", when it comes to crashes.  Generally multi-blade props are used with high RPM, and are used in fast models.
