I used 2 mm lite-ply for doublers.

The main landing gear bock- I have tried to design this so the impact of landing is transmitted over the largest possible area on the fuse

The ply doublers are glued with SR 998

The butt and fillet joints are glued with hot glue

Fuse & tail feathers 4 mm

Did not have yellow 4 mm corro for tail feathers so covered with thin vinyl (it comes in different varieties)

Wheels fitted with 4 mm axles & wheel collars

I used 2 3/4" (70 mm) main wheels, and will use a 30 mm Tail Wheel

Wing mark-out started

In this build, adapting from a balsa design to corro, the rough break-up of time spent:

Conceptualization, calculation, planning: 40 %
Marking:                                           20 %
Building:                                           40 %

This is going to be a beautiful bird. Very detailed build log {:)} {:)}

Thanks Maahin :D

Beauty as they say lies in the eyes of the beholder  ;) ;)

As for me - I just hope it flies  ??? ??? :-[ :-[

Have to say sanjay sir your a master in building planes no matter what you can create any plane !!! :D
:salute::salute::salute::salute:.

Aman. :hatsoff:

Thank you Aman  :thanks:

The dihedral for the wing is not specified  ??? ???

So, I found the dihedral brace in the drawing, and by extending the arms found the angle was 15 degrees, which translates to approx. 3.3" per side  8-) 8-) :o :o :o

I decided to go with 2" per side. More dihedral makes the model easier to flt - the ''bell'' effect - but less nimble and aerobatic. Seeing it's a scale model of a trainer (although a low-winger) decided to settle midway  ;D

The wing is:

Swept back at the LE
Swept forward at the TE
Tapered

Made the spar first. Used 9 mm balsa (because I had it  ;) ;))

sanjayrai55

A fair bit of geometry to get the loci of the wing boundaries

sanjayrai55

I leave the wingtips open, or make a tip block in thermocole for most of my corro builds. This guy demanded a built up tapered wingtip. So, here goes; let's try and explore what happens  ???

The aileron is made from 2 pieces of 3 mm corro glued together. Then one side flute top and bottom is cut away to make the hinge. I would have preferred just a single 4 mm, but did not have it in yellow  >:(

The wing itself is 3 mm Corro (actually 2.6 mm as measured)

maahinberi

By when do you plan to maiden this? Hopefully, I'll be around when you do  8-)

shijin ps

Sanjay sir  how much she weights now? Power plant confirmed (Will go with a 3536-1250 probably with a 10*7 eProp) or not?

Maahin: It should be ready for the next weekend of 13/14th Dec. However I am travelling on the 11th evening (the day you reach) and back on the 14th morning

sanjayrai55

Shijin: Until the wing is ready, I won't really know

But these are my rough estimates:

Fuse with tail: <600 gm
Wing: < 400 gm
Power Pack: ~450 gm

Total: 1350-1450 gm

If it's below 1400, the 3536-1250 (about 20 size) is OK, else I might go with a 3542-1250 (about 25 size.)

So, are you flying on 14th? Or the Wednesday after?
