Hello everyone,
Although, I'd started quite late due to very tight college schedule and unavailability of a few items, this claims my entry in the sweepstakes'14. I'd started building a cessna 172. A few specifications and details are as follows:
Wingspan: 45"
Fuselage Length: 30"
Motor: Emax 2812 1200KV
ESC: 20A
Battery:1000mAh 3S
Prop: 8 X 4
Estimated AUW: 500gm
Material used: HD Thermocol
Presently, working on fuselage. Wing scheduled to be made tomorrow evening.
I would be happy to receive comments/suggestions from all of you.

Looking good... which type of shop did you ask for HD Thermocol?

I got it at a shop dealing with architecture items. You can find it on Stationery shops. Otherwise go to shops dealing with packaging materials... You'll get it there.

HD thermacole is available in shops that deal with False ceiling and interior decoration. they use it exclusively for false ceiling and it is the only known use apart from model making.

Fuselage almost done. Only lamination and motor mount left. Horizontal and vertical stabilisers completed with lamination.

One of my most loved civil aircraft, all the best Utkarsh!

Thank you so much VC sir. This is my favourite too. I tried to build this model one year back but it crashed :banghead: very badly due to overweight. So, this time building this very carefully. Trying to keep everything as much perfect as I can.

Finally got some time to work on this out of very busy college schedule :banghead: :banghead:
Wing complete. I used hot wire cutter and then sanded it with a sand paper. Finally, laminated it with the help of lamination sheet and then some hot iron... Sorry, couldn't click any photo during construction of wing, since, both my roomies were sleeping while I was doing hot wire cut...

Horizontal stabiliser, vertical stabiliser including control surfaces complete. Ready to be mounted on the tail portion of fuselage. I'd first put the coloured tapes and then I'll mount since, it is very difficult to work with tapes after fixing the stabilisers on tail.

Great. Now fly it.
No landing gear?

utkarshg13

Thank you sir.
I don't have the Aluminium undercarriage right now. Trying to make it from a aluminium strip but that does not seems to be strong enough. Trying to make it with all I have.
Bit scared for flying since this seems to be heavy. I'll weigh it today evening at a shop nearby.
Lets hope for >:D >:D >:D
