Hello All ;D ;D
This is a foamy which i completed last week. Actually i started the build last year itself but somehow it went off to the side when
i got busy with college and SAE Aero Design works, so finally i got to complete it last week.Sadly due to this i couldnt take pics
when i was building it so i have only the pics of the final outcome.
This plan is very similar to the RCgroups 'Big Nasty' but i got it from 3DMON Designs with slight modification in the nose and under
the name Lil' Ripper.
Here is the link : http://www.3dmondesigns.com/Lil%27-Ripperplans.php
I used 5mm Depron for most of the construction and some 5mm Balsa in the nose to fix the motor mount.
Specs:
Wingspan - 31"
Length - 32"
AUW ( without electronics) = 250gms (is that a lot?? :headscratch:)
Brushless motor - Emax GT2215/09 from RcDhamaka
Prop - 9*4.7 SF
Esc - HK 40 A
Servos - 3 * Aeolian 9g From RcBazaar
Batt - Turnigy 1000mah
Motor Mount : C28 mount from Rcbazaar, i tried different motor mounts there and found out that this one in particular is an excellent
mount for Grand Turbo series motors {:)} (http://rcbazaar.com/products/178-mounting-seat-for-c28-series-motor.aspx)
Still Have to maiden. But had a short chuck test with 50% throttle to see if i need any reinforcement in the tail etc.
Pics will follow soon. :)
I Know that GT2215 and 40A is an overkill for this plane but its just an initial setup. will change to either a Towerpro combo or a Aeolian C2826- KV1200 brushless motor.
Here are some pics of the build...
Motor mount, main wing and servos..
nice built...
2215 or 2826 are overkill, both are powerful motors meant for around 39"-44" ws model, and i think little heavy.... for this plane even emax 2812 is good enough if u want more punch then 2822 is just more than enough!!!!
once i tried 2213 on my 30" foamy and on landing motor mount came off, tearing biofoam!!!! so if u really going with ur motor then give lots of support to motor mount!!!
Thanx :) Will keep that in mind.
Actually thought of a 2812 but was tempted for more and put in 2215...Maybe i shouldnt have, will change...
Have given enough support i think but i met Sharad (RC) last week and he thinks i need to elongate the support a bit more, will try to fix that up without having to remove a lot of the glued parts...
nice.. i dont know anything about an overkill.
But is the model ready to take an over powered motor?
That's what overkill means... :)
oh! :P i just thought it had to do with the power to weight ratio and nothing to do with the actual model.
I've been reinforcing the model with all kinds of things to handle this motor. but of course even if i dont change the motor , i wont be flying on full throttle. so then i'll just have unneccesary weight on the plane. Maybe i'll change it to 2812 or a towerpro bell from one of the HK combos.
