Hello guys,

Just wanted to share a self designed, low wing trainer plane.

Wing span: 36 inches
Chord: 10 inches
Fuse length: 30 inches
Weight: Approx 650 gms (AUW)...will provide exact figure later

This time i have made some sketches in google sketchup for your reference...feel free to experiment.

Equipment used:

Motor: Turnigy 2830 azj 1100 kv, gives thrust upto 900 gms (this motor is discontinued now)
Prop: 8x6 Electric
ESC: 30A Red Brick
Servos 3x 9 gm Hextronic
Battery: Turnigy 2200 mAH 3s

Other equipment used: carbon fiber 2mm rods as pushrods, c channel aluminium spar (1 cm ht), Ply motor mount, servo extention leads, rubber bands to hold the wing, chopsticks as dowels etc..

Maiden flight was absolutely stable and a lot of fun to fly....a good low wing trainer!

The only change i would do if i was building this plane again is the placement of aileron servo...either use torque arm method or use seperate servos for both the the aileron on the top of the wing.

The method i followed (window for aileron pushrods on fuse) created a weak part on the fuselage (which i reinforced...so no worries...).

Anyways it flew great, motor, ESC and battery runs cool and long.

Will request someone to take a video this weekend...untill then cheers!

Nice and simple design,

looks like you had used coro sheet for wings and other control surfaces,  what thickness is it,

only dis advantage though is it may not be as durable as depron foam sheet.

However great for beginner scratch builders like me.

fuselage is depron/thermocole i guess

Superfast Arun  :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

What motor/prop are you planning?

arun.sreelakam

Right now planned for a 1200kv turnigy aerodrive with an 8" prop and 3s
or 9" and 2s with same motor...
and later will be going for a 2200kv with 5" or 6" for some more speed... :)

Hi,

scratch build the same design, came out well but the float test was not confidence inspiring it was leaning towards the left side.

the only change i had done was making it a high wing trainer, is it ok????

Backya what material is this ? How did you join it , which glue you are using  ? Thx

It Coroplast, Looks like a 3mm, easy to join using anabond or any other CA glu. available in blue, white, yellow and maroon colors.
