You've got a Hurricane and a Spitfire for company
Pl see replies 15-21 in this thread.

Post your video.
Ashok Baijal's Hurricane has not yet been flown.
My Spitfire is an old warrier. Been crashed thrice by mode1 pilots insisting on flying it.
(Once even by Gusty sir during a low inverted pass!)
Still does vertical rolls till out of sight on original motor.
All my models have the good fortune to have been flown by Gusty sir!

Best of luck for maiden. Pl post motor used, AUW and video.

Edit: spelling mistake!

docnayeem

Sure Iyer sir...
Will do that...

docnayeem

Thanks wingman... But I guess mine will b a bit heavy...
Expecting AUW at around 640 gms

Iyer recalled my Hurricane but forgot my P51 Mustang. Well here it is. It is a scratch built model - no kit. Used foam for wings, biofoam + 3mm commercial ply for fuselage plus balsa for covering the foam wing. The Mustang is powered by a. 46 OS AX engine. Wing span 52inch. It has flown many sorties. Waiting for monsoon winds to die down for flights after a long long break lying in closed boxes.

My all biofoam Hurricane is sitting beside its bigger cousin. Wing span 30 inch. Again waiting for fair weather for its maiden flight. Will get a coat of colour after a successful maiden.

That Mustang is Awesome....

docnayeem

Is that painted or covered?

How did it get so heavy? Big battery and huge motor?

docnayeem

The airframe is around  250 gms...
The cubic wing loading an targeting is around 7...  ( actually a wing loading of a trainer)  so planning a 2200 battery  should be 180 gms moto around 60 gms and rest 50 gms...  Thats how I approximated AUW around 640  gms
All this gives me a cubic wing loading of 7 should be ok...  I guess

@Docnaeem
Yes, it looks nice and flies equally nicely with great rolls and dives. My son considers it my best model build. Next build I am planning is the German BF-109 which will be a glow powered model of similar size. British Spitfire would follow.

It is covered with vynl. The decals are hand cut out of three different vynl sheets.

docnayeem

Piece of art.....  But vinyl did not make it heavy?

ashok baijal

Vynl is slightly heavy, but it is a glow powered model. Vynl makes it fuel proof also. Further, the fuse is biofoam stuck on a ply/balsa frame, so I had to use some covering which could easily stick on to the biofoam. Vynl is already pre-glued on one side and easly sticks on biofoam.
