sunk?

hi mate.
a simple test..........
take the  'red wire'  out of the esc/rx plug and use another battery to power the rx [3v would be ok for bench test]
if esc 'still get hot' then it is another thing causing it.
the larger pitch prop may be enough to do this....but usually then the motor get warm too.

I think the cause that you mentioned is right. Will buy a BEC and test it with my setup.

sunk?

hi mate.
don't forget to remove the 'red wire' from the esc/rx plug. just tape it back for now then you can still use it later.

After a long time I am back with my project.
Have put up the motor & one servo-for controlling flaps. Will put up servo for controlling rudder in some time.

Let me know how it looks.

Thanks,
Vikalp.

Please let me know whether their deflections look proportionate to craft's size...

hi vikalp.. did you manage to do the maiden today?... if yes vids pls?

vikalp11

No Sir, i crashed it :(
But i have repaired it & ready to fly it tomorrow.
Tomorrow I am going to Mahalaxmi race course to meet Mr.Darius Engineer. Will be getting membership in Indian Academy of Model Aeronautics!!
Will conduct the flight in noon.
Today i did some checking & made a video: here's the link:-

its looks great, just make another canopy at the bottom too (as shown in pic, though give it a design :) ) which starts exactly where upper canopy ends, it will NOT deform the look (as jets are like that) but also save your prop every time it hits the ground (make the height of canopy little more that prop shaft ), this way you wont have to think about crashing, also use some popsicle sticks to reinforce area around motor and lower canopy, two sticks from mount to nose (give it more stiffness when hitting the ground)

EDIT: if one canopy looks bad make two canopies such that they look like thrusters or wind channels giving it more cool look.

also add Kmf2 airfoils or 1 if you want, make your jet go easy. just stick half wing on top of wings and bevel the edge.
Even if i say halalujah, it aint fly...

vikalp11

thanks for these tips, i will include them in my craft.

welcome  to IAMA.... darius sir has a lot of good books on designing of planes and mods of engines... some by HANO PRETTNER himself..... take some time to visit  the office  of BOMBAY SOCIETY OF MODEL ENGINEERS at FORT
Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines.

What is "switching beck"?
Thee are two main types of BECs-- SBEC (switching BEC) and UBEC (Ultimate/Linear BEC)
