Have designed fighter jets.
Ordered electronics from RCBazaar. Will be getting on Wednesday.
EXCITED!!
Let me know how are the designs.
Vikalp.
Will make believe FLIGHT to HUMAN is......HANDY!!!
Cool looking ones. What are the dimensions?
nice builds!!!! u designed these....grt!!! what are the dimensions?
did u used any tool?
all the best for maiden!!
Ashish
Hi,
Nice design and clean built...
but i cannot see the place to put motor :headscratch:?????????Where and how?
i can see the functional rudder as well.. r u going to use those also?

thanks Ashish.
Tools that I used were a simple cutter, cellotape, hot glue gun. & yes pencil scale etc.
Nothing special or expensive.
Are these your own designs ? Please consider posting tiled plans :)

I will make the cutout one I get the motor. I am still learning....so a bit slow.
Yup I am going o use those rudders.
I will put the videos of flight.
Fingers crossed!
nice build...
nice build... {:)}
Thanks!

Hey people,
I did a bench test today.
Here's the video:

Notice a beep at the end. Didn't understand what was that for? & the ESC had also become quite hot. Had tested for just 2 minutes. Why did it become hot so quickly? The motor & battery were cool though.
Vikalp I think your ESC is of less AMPs than the motor. Thats why the ESC is heating up. Thats just my opinion. What do the experts have to say on this?
its 30A & motor requires 18A(normal) & 25A(burst).
other reason could be bad connection due to bad soldering?
I dont think soldering would be that big a problem ;)
Hmmm....
My soldering was good & strong. Is the motor+prop combination conduming more amps?? Motor requirws 8x4 but i used 8x5 prop. Could it be 'coz of increased prop pitch that it is pulling more power?? I have a 6x4 prop too. Will test with it tomorrow.
but you are saying that the motor is not at all hot, if that was the case then the motor also would have been hot.
Point.
Will research on it.
HI mate.
you are running 11v ?
is the bec a switching beck or not? the bec on 11v may be getting hot just by reducing currant for rx,servos etc.
on 11v I always put a separate bec in as it save the esc getting hot.
regards
don
Yes it is 11v battery. The esc has buitin bec of 5v for tx & servos.
Will study more over it & speak to the dealer too.
Thx for the input.
What is "switching beck"?
hi mate.
a simple test..........
take the 'red wire' out of the esc/rx plug and use another battery to power the rx [3v would be ok for bench test]
if esc 'still get hot' then it is another thing causing it.
the larger pitch prop may be enough to do this....but usually then the motor get warm too.

I think the cause that you mentioned is right. Will buy a BEC and test it with my setup.
hi mate.
don't forget to remove the 'red wire' from the esc/rx plug. just tape it back for now then you can still use it later.
regards
don
Well I wont do that test as i dont have another battery. I will buy an BEC & test it.
After a long time I am back with my project.
Have put up the motor & one servo-for controlling flaps. Will put up servo for controlling rudder in some time.
Let me know how it looks.
Thanks,
Vikalp.
Would like to share a video on my elevator servo test:

hi vikalp.. did you manage to do the maiden today?... if yes vids pls?
No Sir, i crashed it :(
But i have repaired it & ready to fly it tomorrow.
Tomorrow I am going to Mahalaxmi race course to meet Mr.Darius Engineer. Will be getting membership in Indian Academy of Model Aeronautics!!
Will conduct the flight in noon.
Today i did some checking & made a video: here's the link:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1Ex24PtPAA&feature=plcp
its looks great, just make another canopy at the bottom too (as shown in pic, though give it a design :) ) which starts exactly where upper canopy ends, it will NOT deform the look (as jets are like that) but also save your prop every time it hits the ground (make the height of canopy little more that prop shaft ), this way you wont have to think about crashing, also use some popsicle sticks to reinforce area around motor and lower canopy, two sticks from mount to nose (give it more stiffness when hitting the ground)
EDIT: if one canopy looks bad make two canopies such that they look like thrusters or wind channels giving it more cool look.
also add Kmf2 airfoils or 1 if you want, make your jet go easy. just stick half wing on top of wings and bevel the edge.
thanks for these tips, i will include them in my craft.
Vikalp are you planing to add landing gear to it? gr8 build.
yes, i made them using cycle spokes & bottle caps ;D

welcome to IAMA.... darius sir has a lot of good books on designing of planes and mods of engines... some by HANO PRETTNER himself..... take some time to visit the office of BOMBAY SOCIETY OF MODEL ENGINEERS at FORT
well I havent got the membership yet....Darius Sir said he will be giving me the form in this coming week. Meanwhile I will look for mentioned author's book & other information.
1 year gone...still I haven't completed my craft.....i feel bad about this...wheels to be put...just that is remaining....will do it and fly it this very month....promise...to myself. (target date for flight - 16th June 2013)

What is "switching beck"?
Thee are two main types of BECs-- SBEC (switching BEC) and UBEC (Ultimate/Linear BEC)
