hi guys.
I'm new to this section.
flew control line planes years ago but more recently helis and boats.
but retired now so cutting back [ no more helis , planes instead]
I have nearly completed a SE5A bi plane from a german plan.

here are the specs
22in wing span 4in cord,
16 ins long
weight around 50/60 onzs AUW...hahaha....thats 0.58lbs so about 9 to 10 onzs  8-) ??? ;D  ;D  getting old I think.......
what motor would you recommend? I have a 380 brushed I was thinking of putting in.
what prop??
pics.
fuselage......nearly done

wings and center section..showing one half inverted to show the under side.

wing profile....not in plan so I did my own version......

380 should work, use a 5x4 or 6x3 prop.

hi mate.
many thanks.
I made a mistake with the weight hahaha,  forgot it was '%  of lb' so looks like maybe 8onz all up,  with battery etc.
about servos,  I have ordered some 4gm servo but have some 9gm, would the 4gm be strong enough for elev and rudder.....not put ail on this one.
first plane for about 35 years ;) :)

Not sure about the 4gm servos, but i have used the 5gm hk servos in similar size builds without any problems. Only one way to find out I guess :)

Hi Sunk,
good one.....

dont worry, 4gm servo will  definitely work, even u can try 3.7gm. i used 4.3 gm servo in my 20" model!!! without any problem...

abt 380 motor, i dont hav any idea abt this motor, but i used 11gm 1811 1600Kv motor from HK for my build if ur weight is around 200+ gms then try 16gm motor from HK...

keep posted

cheers

Just for the info of all concerned, the Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5A (Scout Experimental 5) Scout was a fighter that excelled in World War 1. Here is what it looked like.

Nice info and beautiful plane.
From this picture it looks like it would be a challenge to make it so light.

hi SunLikeStar.
to weigh it I put all the peices in a plastic carrier with the 2c battery and motor.
all  that is missing is 2 possibly 4gm servos and esc and prop and under-carriage so the weight could be nearer 14onz at the finish.
under-carriage..... not sure what to use yet.........I have some 3/4 inch diameter wheels, but think really it could do with bigger light weight wheels??

hi guys.
well under-carriage now on [ pretty wheels :) ], I think I may lower the tail skid a little ........
rudder and elev have horns now for the servo rods.
top set of wings are now on, and the prop has arrived, got the rx still waiting for the esc from china :)

edit.
just weighed it with out esc and servo [ 2 x 4gm] an it comes out at  0.30kg?
does this sound about right?
