....hello friends best wishes for the new year just round the corner  :) ;D

i am trying to post build pics and maiden video of my new plane.....been at it for some time but both RCI and YT sites are taking forever..... :headscratch:

...its a TLAR, 56 in Me 109.....and weighs 860g with a 1000kv motor, 2200 3S with two metal gear servos+two 9g servos.

the build itself includes wire cut foam wings, reinforced with teak wood spars and a coro+foam fuse.....

.....considering new years eve and related pressures ;D ;D....I am going to be making full on efforts to upload data.

.....worthy reference(s) shall be provided to confirm.... as a last resort

in the event it fails, I hope the spirit will prevail  ;).....(pun intended)

happy new year to all of you....

clear blue skies  :hatsoff:

....the build began on 23/12 although the newspaper is from 18/12

the airfoil chosen was NACA 2412 but the available foam was just 1 in thick, so used only the top part of the foil and added 2-3 mm below the chord line....so its now only 9%

here's a short video

wing build in the process....notice the foam blocks at the tips at LE....spacers for wing sweep

posting pics which have more details due to upload issues

bmblb

....the sequence of pics and the narration is messed up....this has been an interesting design(?)/build

more pics....

** the pic with spinner is just before starting the sanding 'summit'  the cockpit  :)

bmblb

...it looks about done....phew !!

edit : not really  :giggle:.....some more sanding was done as the nose droops a little more like the snout of a shark....

aaaahhh.....now for the painting.

black & white fevicryl with a sponge and masking tape....great fun and messy fingers  ;D

and here's the end result....
"The Flight Of The Bumblebee"

bmblb

....the camo looked great....had I used clear tape instead of white.....and the camo was wiped out as you can see....hope I got the correct marking image....there are several I referred.

and the fuse sides....just figuring out where to beef it up so that I get enough foam to get the curvatures... :banghead: :headscratch:

bmblb

....the battery hatch, cockpit and cover for servos are just held with tape and bands....magnet/suitable locks are yet to be done.....so are the markings...hope to do this soon.

it weighs 860 RTF.....thats 8.6 oz/sft WL. (wing is 10.5 RC, 7.5 TC including ailerons, average to 9, AR of 6)

....flies great...and the video of the maiden is interesting due to the ambient sounds and commentary....but will edit that and post soon.  ;D ;D

....a pic of the commencement....actually began on 23/12 although the paper is from 18.....so thats about a week and enough distractions in between  ;D......

thanks....and wish you all the best

wrap-up:

re-posting this with the edited soundtrack.

....besides being my first full blown 4 ch low wing scale(attempt) .....(and a reincarnation of an Old Relic from my boyhood 8-))....there's an interesting background about this build.

after the last few weeks of building, I thought I had enough and will spend the last few days of the year consolidating my workbench ;D...a casual conversation and quick exchanges of few pics on Whatsapp with a friend led me to this.....I wanted to build the Volksplane liesurely http://www.pimaair.org/aircraft-by-name/item/evans-vp-1-volksplane

.....looking at the pics of Me 109 brought back a rush of memories ...and I said to myself....a consolidated, clean workshop is as mythical as the Pegasus....just had to build it. ;D ;D ;D

....will post when I have finished the plane.

btw, the last 40 sec of this video until landing is power off glide

....its been fun !
