Hey Guys!!! ;D

Just commissioned a new aircraft for my hanger. :P The Incredible  :salute: Sukhoi-30 MKI Flanker H.
Its based on tomhe plans of Su-37 Super Flanker, but made some slight changes in the wing, nose cone part, Tailfins to suit a Su-30 MKI.
I havent put up the power systems yet, still in the process of deciding the best one. Looking for some suggestions. :hatsoff:

Here are teaser pics of the bird. :thumbsup: More pics will follow soon.

@Gusty sir : I'm looking for an EDF setup. Actually i started building this coz i had a HK64mm EDF with 2627 - 4300kv motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11159
But now i feel its not the right setup for this bird.

@Ujjwaana - Thanx :) Its completely stickering job. Total Job costed  :Rs: 150 .

@Akash - Thanx Buddy :) The stickers came pretty cheap actually but it took a lot of my time to carefully cut them and paste them accordingly.

Many modellers don't pay too much attention to detail/finishing when it comes to RC Aircraft. It is a pleasure to see such a beautifully detailed model. Hope the stickers don't adversely affect the AUW and that you have a successful maiden! :thumbsup:

Thanks a lot !  Actually this is the first model which i've taken lot of pains for stickering and everything, usually even i fly the stock white. The stickers have added 70g more. Hopefully she will fly well. Looking forward for the maiden also:)

1st plane!..... It is really beautiful...great detailing...need lots of patience....all the best for maiden....
If ur going for edf, use 70mm with powerful motor...2627 is not enough powerful for this model

Its really beautiful. Nice detailing.  {:)} {:)} {:)} {:)}

The stickers will also adds strength to the model. I hope you had tapped the leading edges of the model before you had stuck the stickers. Tapping the leading edge adds lot of strength to the model and protects the model from nicks and cut of landing impacts.

This model is as such tail heavy since there is not much provision to shift the Lipo ahead to balance the CG. The stickers will also add further weight to the model behind CG, since most of the foam is behind the CG. You may need Nose weight to the tune of 50 to 100 Gms to balance at the CG.

The EDF originally planned should give you sufficient Speed, if you are able to mount with min modification. The Power system suggested by Gusty is ideal if you want a powerful setup. However a 2212/6 with 30-40 Amps ESC and 6x4 is also an appropriate setup.

PankajC

Beautiful.....
How did you manage to get the stickers printed?

On a side note, is it a good idea to first do a test flight and then the finishing or should we completely finish the model before maiden?

@AshJR7202
Thank you, It is indeed very beautiful. I meant it is my first plane with a stickering job and not my beginning plane. Will try to maiden by dec end. Actually thinking of a Twin 64mm or a single 70mm....

Thank you sir! All the edges have been tapped initially only, Yes the tape always save the day during hard landings. And are u saying that the EDF i have mentioned will give me enough speed. can u confirm on that sir? I very much want to go for an EDF setup than a Pusher prop, maybe will go for the one Gusty sir mentioned for my next plane. so basically i need to play a lot with CG in this model right....will freeze the electronics first and check the CG. Will some uneven coating of stickers matter a lot??matter of about 10g. Because i have actually put a second layer of that on the right wing because the former tore accidently.

Thank you. Getting the stickers done was the easiest part of all. Just searched some good camouflage themes on google, a little corel draw editing and then got it printed in a printing and publishing shop for around Rs 15 for a A3 size sticker peel sheet.

Actually i feel that the stickering has to be done on par with the building. because once the maiden is complete then there will definitely be some inaccessible places where the fingers dont reach to apply the stickers etc. so better to sticker individual parts and then glue them together. Attaching a few build pics to illustrate...

From the Specs at the Hobby King link which you have provided the motor has 700 gms of thrust in a 64mm EDF at 280 Watts.

I have the same model of tomhe Plan, which has crashed many times over and repaired many times with hot glue. It flies with a nose lead weight of 50 gms to have correct CG. With a 3S 2200 Lipo and all electronics it is still not 700gms it is barley around 600 gms. Unlike a Prop Plane and EDF Plane performes best at high speeds and is capable of better speeds than a Prop plane. It seems it will have the desired speed.

Yes this model can fly with some imperfections in structure as well as weight distribution. Mine is still flying with bent wings and canard  :giggle: after every flight when the trim goes bad in transportation in Car, I bent the canard or the wing to compensate  ;D.

PS : Hobby King however are known for their wrong specs at the product pages. Its always better to test the power system for static thrust before mounting.

Su 30 MKI tats my bird. Nice build nd color scheme. Hy Jatayu what mm foam did u use. And what is the stick and peel paper u said u used and where is it available. Can it be printed ussing a normal A3 size printer?

Jatayu

@ sundaramvelar sir

If its flying with a bent wing then a little weight imbalance shouldnt be a problem. I will check the thrust and then only mount it. Can you please post a picture of how you've mounted the EDF just for the sake of idea?

Thank you ! I've used 5mm Laminated Depron. Peel type paper as in sticker sheets which are completely white and be cut and peeled off from the base paper. It can be printed in a normal A3 printer. The printer guy i knew already had the sticker sheets so i didnt have to buy and give it to him for printing...:)

Mine is all Prop Jets but for one Techone F-16 64mm EDF. You can refer to Techone pictures posted for fixing of EDF in your Profile model.

Currently I am making a Super bandit Steve Shumate Plans modified for 70mm EDF for a full fuse model.

Printing color scheme on paper sticker....pretty easy and cheap...why didnt it strike me before!!!......
But sticking big sticker on plane must be tedious job!!!

I generally draw scheme in CorelDraw and get it cut on radium using plotter kind of machine and those people stick it, but costly. I spent around 400-500 Rs on each plane....

Ur idea seems to be interesting...

@sundaram sir : Thanx a lot for the post. Will take some hints from the pics for mounting.

Also a few questions to everyone here, might be silly but as i'm now in the verge of experimenting with EDF's, What will be the exact result if i used a motor suited for a 70mm edf in a 92mm edf?? Will it be able to handle the load as in the increased dia of blades?? How will the current response change?
I have confusions because after normal prop aircrafts, finding EDF and motor compatibility are in a different league all together..

Thank you
