This what we are making.

Only the under carriage is left.

Excellently build, but I slightly doubt the way control rods for elevator is fixed..
Even if it is going within some lubricated pipe, still efficiency will decrease with stiff rods.Flexible rods however will serve the purpose.
Brake wires are more efficient at such type of installations.

Excellent built
I can take off and fly well. Its landing which sucks :banghead::banghead:

Sumeet

Great build Param...!!!

:hatsoff:

I am a great fan of Steve Shumate. The jet is looking nice and smooth. Keep it up.

Oh and BTW what power system are you going to use in this one?

I too have an F15 Eagle waiting for the electronics, That is also on Steve Shumate's Plan. But I was thinking to order a pusher prop setup for it.

But now I will wait to see the results of your parkjet with the EDF setup. Please do post more pics and don't forget a Maiden Flight Video.  >:D

Cheers!!!

Thank you Anwar, Abhay and Sumeet. My son also joins me in conveying the gratitude.

@ Abhay the linkage for elevator is a HK Push rod sleeve pair comprising a flexible tensile rod through a plastic tube and working perfectly.

@ Sumeet the power system is a 64mm EDF with 3680KV 24mm in-runner, 40A ESC, Turnigy Nanotech 2200AH 3S.

I am little not satisfied with power to weight ratio. It is just about 0.9 with AUW about little less than 700gms.

In gusty's opinion it is intake loss. may be I will open two more inlets on the sides.

@ Gusty When we are going to maiden both jets together then I will have to maiden the giant Mirage 2000 with 90 mm EDF.  ;)  >:D

The Plan is here

http://www.parkjets.com/bandit/

It is for a 40mm EDF and scales up to fit a 50mm EDF.

The plans fuse has been scaled up to accommodate a 70mm EDF in my case. however decided to fit a 64mm EDF instead on the same modified design. May be a bad decision which on flight test will be clear. On the down side more you increase the Power system the AUW is also increasing considerably with it due to bigger fuse, bigger battery associated with the Power System.

Too busy making it, did not document it. Some photographs pulled down from net to amplify the built inside. ( The EDF is 50mm in examples Photos)

All EDF makers must know this, static thrust of an edf largely depends on the intake design, thumbs rule is it should be diverging intake for a subsonic flight (Very slightly diverging would do) a converging diverging would have intake losses due chocking of air flow.

However this is only true for static thrust , dynamic thrust of a edf would be much more than static thrust. at slightly higher speeds she will perform quite well.

You would have noticed by now, one another blunder which could have been avoided was placing the linkages and servo for ailerons on the belly. I should have just mounted two servos on the sides from top, then with simple wing skids it would have easily done belly landing. Now I am sweating with under carriage.

Maiden was not happy ending  :'(. Gross lack of power took off nicely, however slightly tail heavy so it was maintaining higher alpha and clubbed with lack of power did not pick up speed at all and in an attempt to turn around and land lost control and trashed nose.

I think will make it all over again. Gusty says repair nose and fly again. Since lack of power thinking no fun flying same setup.

ujjwaana

I have to make one too.... With 64mm EDF and motor lying with me, this model gave way to other Foamie/Balsa models..

Heading to Gusty's advice opened two more intake ports on the sides of the inlet in the shape of bell. Definitely has improvement in thrust. Cannot still say it has touched ratio of 1. However worth try again with a Nose Job.

So the Model is under Nose Job for second attempt.

we were Maidening Mirage 2000 and Bandit (Pundit as param calls ) together, M2k Flew well. video to follow. this time i am going to maiden this beautiful maiden. what say sandy

Gusty defenitely I am getting too good with nose jobs  ;)  :giggle: :giggle:

its looking much better than the original. The CG has been rectified. Now it has been moved forward by moving lipo ahead. Its exactly as per plan.

With much improved thrust it will defenitly fly well.

Sundaram sir i must say grt built. Sir 4 cell edf s r pretty powerfull. My fren has a f 20 tiger shark. We used 3 cell on it so it was pretty underpowered during launch. Then we switchd to 4 cell nd it has pulsating power. Very fast. I had to throttle back after launch othrwise she wld go away very fast. Just chk if ur motor can take 4 cell. Also tat can solve the prblm of cg being back.

sundaram

Thanks Sravan  :thanks: . You are absolutely correct. However this motor is only three cell capable. Just in three cell it reaches 32 amps and 350 watts. I should have contoured the duct for smooth flow which I did not. Now with additional inlets it has good thrust.

I do have a 70mm EDF with a rewound outrunner which is 4S  capable and has very very good thrust. I wanted to make again with it, but gusty was insisting on flying same for better practice.

did the maiden flight, she flew like a charm, T/W was 0.6 static and about 0.9 dynamic, Looped and Rolled well, landing was at about 10 alpha, (She stalls at 13-15 alpha) 30 % Power, immaculate build and flying. Sandy should put up the video soon

This model was totalled last Sunday flying. So now back to drawing board. This time it will also have a thrust tube for better performance.

planning on a 70 mm EDF with a 4S setup. Will be having amazing thrust for sure.
