Balanced charging is almost necessary for Lipo batteries but can't we Directly charge the battery using the discharge leads and balance the cells with a balancer every now and then.

anybody tried that .... or have any idea... :salute: :salute:

I have one doubt.

I have a 2200 mah 3s battery

In my charger what current should i set 2200 or 85 to 90 % of it?

i am charging it by setting the current as 2000 mah.

it all dpends on C rating of battery . there are two C  ratings one for charging and other for discharging ..most batteries can be charged at 1C SO 2200ma won't be a problem ...but for more charge cycles (more LIFE)  you should charge at low level (500ma) if you are not in HURRY 8-).

My battery is getting hot when i drive the car with being hard on gas. Yet my motor does not draws enough current (motor 35A   and battery is 2200mah 20C)
I'll be back.

Is it due to burst mode when esc supplies more current...?
I'll be back.

what do you mean....? 5oo mA for whole 3 cell pack or for each single cell which will round up to 1.5 A for the pack...
I'll be back.

its ZIPPY Flightmax 2200mAh 3S1P 30C lipo from hk

the charger i am using is HobbyKing ECO6 50W 5A Balancer
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11060

At the start of charging it asks for capacity(i doubt whether its capacity or charging rate ???) & battery type
i am giving it as 2000 mah & 3s. so are you telling that for better life i should give the capcity as 500 mah & 3s

can you instruct me more on this?

pankaj

well ... for furthur reading

i have played with lead acid for quite long time and feel that the more slow you charge the more DEEP you charge... i think same applies to lipos but not to that extent.....

the 20C (44amps) rating is maximum ..that means you can take maximum this much and things running hot doesn't mean you are hurting them :D  ... and as you said your burst current may also be the cause ....
