I picked up some used Brushed ESC's from a fellow member. I would be grateful if someone could throw some light about their features/calibration/quality etc.

I'll jot down what I know and would request the others to augment the information with their knowledge. Please feel free to contribute if any of them are familiar. Just keep it simple and 'idiot' proof. One of them will be reading your posts eagerly. :giggle:

1. Walkera Heli ESC. Seems capable of controlling both the main motor and the tail rotor. What Amperage would this be?

2. Some Chinese stuff. Seems reversible. 20 A + 20 A = 40 A.  ??? How does one get the reverse to work? What is the small switch for? The Red/Black wires with the plug goes to the battery? Naked wires to motor?

The next two seem fairly simple, however, please add whatever you know. No information will go to waste.

3. Tower Pro? What Amperage? Reversible? Plugged wire to Battery?

4. Electrifly 30A. Red/Black to battery and Blue/White to motor?

Thanks everyone in advance.

The second one is reversible from the looks of it (I have some homemade ones like this). Relay driven. Those are spst relays. Three MOSFETs\Power transistors. One to activate each relay coil(switching between the relays will reverse motor direction) amd the third one to pulse the input supply to control speed. Crude but quite effective. Dont go over 20A. But most of the time current will be limited by the MOSFET\Power transistor used. Can you make out the part number on those?

Can you get a better picture? One from the side where the servo wire meets the pcb and one from the underside showing the pcb traces. :)

For the branded ones, Tower, Greatplanes, Walkera you should be able to identify in the online catalogue, and probably be able to download an operating manual

Apart from what I have shown, nothing else has a number on it.

Edit - Does this help?

Oh.. Then don't go over 15A. Have you tested it yet? Hook it up to servo controller and an LED strip if you have. Safest way to check unknown brushed ESCs IMO. :)

the towerpro esc is a 15 amp one vintage stuff now   ;D  its non reversible  n can handle burst loads upto 20 amp
the heli esc you have can deliver max 7 amps on each motor they are rated 10 n 5 for motor total its a 15 amp again
the Chinese esc is reversible when used with car radios  i hope it is  the switched is for Turning on n off the esc
and he naked wires are for motor the tamiya connector is for power

Akky, lastRites - thanks a ton!

Akky - when you say 'Car Radios' do you mean Pistol grip types with centre zero setting on the Throttle Trigger? I am sure that can be calibrated for any other Tx? Please confirm.

i guess yes they can be ...use the throttle on elevator ..

Thanks again, you have given me some hope.

sir, u can control the boat with just one hand so other is free. using elevator stick as akky said for throttle=forward/reverse, aileron stick for boat rudder. i dont know brushed escs. the second esc posted has tamiya type plug which goes to battery, switch for turning on and off, and naked wires to motor. :)
