Hi All,

While my EZ* was in-flight it simply won't respond to power and upon landing it I realized there was no prop on it. During an earlier such instance, I recollect that under some senior folks guidance I had put CA in the white colored plastic prop spinner and glued it to motor shaft. After that the EZ* flew quite well.

Got myself a prop adapter with 6x4E EMP propeller as I have "HXT 2040 (130L) 2080kv Brushless Inrunner" http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=4203 as the forums suggested 6x4. My ESC rating is 20A and battery is 2200mAh 3S.

The new propeller does not seem to fit my motor (as shown in pic) and I don't know what was the earlier propeller's size as I had got the entire plane from someone off the field.

Now,
Which is the right propeller size as 6x4 does not fit?
Is the thrust line of my plane not correct due to which the 6x4 is not fitting onto it?
If somehow I am able to fit 6x4 I guess it will draw more amps. Will it draw more resulting in ESC / motor burn?
The prop adapter appears to be 3mm in dia after I tighten it while dia of motor shaft is 2mm. Do we get 2mm prop adapters?

Thanks,
Ashutosh

Prop adapters (and prop savers) come in various diameters. Not sure who has what you need locally though.

you need an adapter here will suggest a grub screw one instead of collet

Easy Star's Stock Motor is Speed 400 and it's Shaft Diameter is 2.3 mm.
Stock Propeller is 5 X 4.

I have corrected the thrust angle such that the 6x4 propeller fits in correctly.

Don't have a wattmeter, but after doing a dry run at my home for around 45 seconds at just above half throttle, the battery did not warm up at all, ESC was slightly warm, but motor was very much warm to touch.

In the motor's review section people have posted both successful and unsuccessful usage of 6x4.

Is it because of the cool air ventilation not available at home or is the 6x4 prop a incorrect fit? Also the prop / motor noise was different as compared to my earlier prop.

:help:

If its getting hot at half throttle in less than a minute then its not good. a 6x3 prop should run good on that motor

your prop might be heavy for motor. it's not compatible for the motor. use gws electric prop brother!

Emp prop's are not heavy. gws are not good at high rpm. i have tried gws prop on my easystar, it broke on the third flight taking my motor mount with it. The plane came down with the motor mount hanging below it :(

Thin GWS props are not good for high Kv/RPM applications. Here the Motor is 2200+ KV (2700 ??). The thin GWS prop would bend and deform at high KV. Using the hard EMP Sports EP props is the right choice. Also, at high KV, using Prop saver (with band) becomes risky. use prop adapter with screw-in spinner.

Ashutosh,
The Fiber  tape you have put on the  Motor pod is way slack. Remove the tape you have applied, clean the surface with little bit of spirit (IPO). Apply fresh take and squeeze the tape with Credit/Debit card to remove any air-bubble. This would give better strength.
