Hi Guys,

How many of you use Glow props on electric motors?  Certain sources like Hyperion ask you to use Glow Props on bigger setups (>700W) for better efficiency.  I know that is impossible on smaller setups.  But what about replacing 14" electric props with glow props.   I have never tried this and would not have thought of it if I hadnt read a few posts in RCG about this being true!

The reason behind me asking this question is that my 58" YAK flying on the Dualsky 4250CA 6T 900W motor was spinning a 14x7 electric prop and it was giving me awesome power.  But I was over clocking the amps with this setup and hence I switched over to a 13x4 APC E Prop.  This works fine but power has dropped drastically.  I am just able to hover at 90% throttle!!  Now I want to put in a 14x4 Wide Blade 3D Fun Fly APC prop on this setup.  But that prop is meant for a glow engine (probably a .70 4 stroke)!! Is it advisable for me to try it out?? I cannot get a wide blade electric prop on 14" sizes.  How much more efficient is this going to be?  Any first hand experience / information would help a lot regarding this!! 

The basic rule is that now, the bigger electric motors spin at almost the same rpms its glow counterparts and can spin bigger props!!  So I think using a glow prop on an electric motor should not be much harmful.  For example, a .40 size 2 stroke engine can spin only a 10x6 prop!! Whereas the electric equivalent of the .40 size engine can spin a 12x6!! Personal experience here!!  But Glow and Electrics are totally a class apart and there is no comparing both..  Would just lead to a huge debate which is already running across multiple forums!!

Anyways back on topic, what about using the 14x4 APC Fun Fly 3D Prop on my Dualsky 4250CA 6T 900W motor??

I had used a Glow 13 x8 on my 4130 motor and lost 2 Zippy 4300 mah 3 s LIPOS the same problem did not repeat when I switched to E Props  that is my experience on this topic.
Infact you know I now fly a 3520 on a 15 x 8 with 3 s which does not exceed 45 amps.
I heard of similar problems with a few other customers as well.
I think you can get a better response if you post this question on RCG.

Thanks uncle.  I would definitely post this in RCG as well.  I have shot a mail to Dualsky.. lets see what they say regarding this..  But I know for sure that Hyperion recommend Glow Props with their high end motors..
