Hi,

I want to know How we can check if an ESC is burnt or alive without putting it on the motor or the Heli itself. As I have a 25 amp Esky ESC which is does not work when I read forums they say that normally it catches fire n burns but nothing like that happend to this one but it just stopped working currently I am using another ESC but I want to know how can I check if this one is okay or not and if its not okay then is there a way to fix it? ???

Thanks

Tried everything the forum instructed now I guess the only way is to peal the heat sink and look inside for burnt stuff :-[

If the output MOSFETs are short then the circuit would burn but if the MOSFETs are open then there would not be any burning of the circuit but the ESC would not work.

Best  is to open the heat shrink and inspect if anything is burnt inside. Normally  you know it immly when you see the IC inside.

Hi All,

Below the heatsink I see 8 small black 2 leged mosphet's (i guess) and one IC on the other side. One of the mosphets is burnt and has also burnt the dual layer PCB. So I don't think its repairable is it?

Thanks

Typically, it is not worth risking the heli with improvisations on such a critical component (as all power including receiver power flows through it).

I agree with Anwar, NOT worth it. A friend lost his plane to a "repair" like this.
If it died then bury it  ;D or use it to learn or investigate not to reuse without it being "certified as worthy"
Its better to Crash while Learning on a sim rather than Learn from Crashing on the field

Oh yes,

I am not even thinking of putting it back on the bird but I only wanted to know if its repairable and if anyone has tried it can give me some tips of what all things to work with...but i don't think its even worth a try.

Anyways thanks for your replies.

Hi all,

Even i have a esc thats made a hole in it's heat shrink but the only problem is my motor is not working instead it jerks around always when the throttle stick is moved upwards.

Can anyone help me? :help:

first check the motor for any physical damage !
Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

Hellyflyer

Hi ,

Check the motor for any damage and then check it with a different ESC if it works don't even try to use the old ESC as its not worth a try.
